Week three will be all about the zombies. Come check out George A Romero's living dead trilogy.

Night of the lving Dead (1990)
A group of people hide from bloodthirsty zombies in a farmhouse. See an updated verison of how Romero's dead series got started in remake directed by the godfather of gore Tom Savni. Click here for the trailer.

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
My favorite film of all time and not just horror film. The original Dawn of the Dead! This has to be the best plot ever...two Philadelphia SWAT team members, a traffic reporter, and his television-executive girlfriend seek refuge in a secluded shopping mall from Zombies. Click here for the trailer

Day of the Dead
A small group of military officers and scientists dwell in an underground bunker as the world above is overrun by zombies in this under appreciated film. Special effects are done by KNB the sickest and twisted guys in the business. Click here for the trailer.
Week 2 Horror Icons Part 2
Friday October 12th at 7pm

The second week of my horror marathon continues with part 2 of Horror Icons. Come see the other famous killers Leatherface, Michael Myers, and Chucky hack and slash people to death. Be careful who sits behind you....

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
A radio host is victimized by the cannibal family as a former Texas Marshall hunts them. Directed by horror icon Tobe Hooper and staring Dennies Hopper as a kick ass Marshall looking for vengence. Click here for the trailer.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
Ten years after his original massacre, the invalid Michael Myers awakens and returns to Haddonfield to kill his seven-year-old niece on Halloween. This is the film that offically started this series as a franchise. Click here for the trailer.

Child's Play 2
My favorite little foul mouthed Chuckie is back as a doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer, butchering all who stand in his way of possessing the body of a boy. Click here to view the trailer.
Week 1 Horror Icons Pt 1
Saturday October 6th. Shows start at 7pm

The first week of my horror marathon will be a tribute to my favorite slashers, Freddy and Jason. Come on out and see Freddy and Jason in one of their own films then watch them duke it out. You may even get a chance to see them in person...Your going to have to show up to find out what I mean.

A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 4 The Dream Master
Freddy Krueger returns once again to terrorize the dreams of the remaining Dream Warriors,as well as those of a young woman who may know the way to defeat him for good. Featuring an awesome 80's soundtrack and directed by action director Renny Harlin (Die hard 2, Cliffhanger). Check out the trailer here.

Friday the 13th part VI
This is the turning point where Jason became more than human. After Tommy kills him in part 4 he returns to Jason's grave to make sure he is dead and accidentally brings him back to life. Now it's up to Tommy to stop Jason's mindless killing and put him back where he belongs. Check out the teaser trailer here.

Freddy VS Jason
Watch two of my favorite icons icons duke it out to the end. Click here for the trailer.
Garrett's Horror Movie Butt-Numb-a-Thon

If you didn't already know I love films. I love all genres but my favorite has to be horror. Once a year in October I host a one night only horror movie marathon. This year I have decided to go all out and make it a month long event. Once a week I'll be hosting a triple feature horror bill. Each night I'll be playing a selection of some of my favorite horror films. Come on out for a scary good time and see some classic horror films projected onto the big screen. Yes, you read right... BIG SCREEN. We will be watching the films in a 40 seat mini theatre.

Where: The Thompson Hotel and Conference Center-650 Victoria Street
When:The 1st and 4th Saturday and the 2nd and 3rd Friday in October.

Shows Start at 7pm and ends with the closing credits of the third film (sometime around 1am). I will have intermissions between films to chill-out, and grab munchies. No tickets required just show up for whatever days and times you like. However days and times are subject to change. I get free use of the theatre because I work at the hotel but if a meeting gets booked for the same day and time plans will be changed. However the likelihood of this happening is very slim. If your considering on coming please let me know so if plans change I can let you know. You can email me, call my cell(851-5946), post a comment on my blog, facebook me, or let me know in person. If anyone needs a ride let me know. For those who attend and park in hotel's parking lot you must obtain a parking pass from the front desk. I don't want your car to be ticketed or towed. It's free of charge just let the front desk guy know your there for my movie marathon. If you show up later than 7 just ask the front desk clerk for directions to the theatre. Also the front door to the hotel is locked at 11pm, so if you want to show up after this time call my cell or ring the buzzer on the door to be let in. Just let the front desk clerk know your there for my party. For more information email me at g_hodgson17@yahoo.com.

Check out these links for what I'll be playing
Week 1 Horror Icons Pt 1
Week 2 Horror Icons Pt 2
Week 3 The Living Dead
Week 4 Monsters

Feel free to wear costumes. Trust me you wont be the only one.

Warning:
The theatre can sometimes be cold so dress accordingly.
The seats can become uncomfortable after sitting for long periods.
If your pregnant, have a pace marker, or high blood pressure you may want to go....just kidding.

Music

You know why people have to download music? B/c they can't find the damn CD's in stores! Today the new Weakerthans album was released. I'm a fan so I wanted to buy the CD. After search the whole town I come up with nothing. They're a Canadian band so you'd figure somewhere in town would have a copy. I want to support the band but I'm not waiting for this hole in the wall town to finally get some. The same thing happened back in June. I wanted the new Emerson Hart album but couldn't find a copy. I searched all over town, Kelowna, and even Edmonton, but still couldn't find it. Therefore I had to resort to downloading that too.

On a bright note I had a customer the other day ask for the new Pat Monahan album. I had heard the name before but just couldn't place it where I know it from. Once I found the album and saw the cover I knew just who it was...The lead singer for Train. I didn't even know he was working on a solo album. So it was a nice surprise being able to pick myself up a copy. Here is a link to the video for his first single "Her Eyes".

What Your Pizza Reveals

You have a hearty appetite. You are likely to complain if a restaurant has small portions.

You consider pizza to be bread... very good bread. You fit in best in the Midwest part of the US.

You like food that's traditional and well crafted. You aren't impressed with "gourmet" foods.

You are generous, outgoing, and considerate with your choices.

You are definitely unique and artistically inclined. You should consider traveling to Prague.

The stereotype that best fits you is geek. You're the type most likely to order pizza to avoid leaving your computer.

There's Not a Violent Bone in Your Body

You're cool and collected, even when someone really gets under your skin.

And while you don't blow up when you're angry, you know how to express your anger calmly.

You don't bottle emotions up or let them get out of control. For you, violence would never be an option.

Damn!

Happy Halloween

This is my younger brothers new toy. A 6ft 5 animatronic Jason Voorhees. They were selling them at Spencer's Gifts. We first saw it in Edmonton, but someone else was already buying it. He was hoping they would get another one before we left but they didn't. However when my parents traveled through the States they found one and bought it for him. The price on one of these things is $250. It moves it's eyes, head, torso, arms and makes breathing noises as well as the Jason theme. It even has a removable mask. I wish I bought one for myself. Spencer's had a Freddy one last year that I wanted but the face didn't look all that great. It's really hard to get the perfect Freddy face. It pretty freaky having this thing standing in the dark....I love it! I may have to travel to Kelowna after Halloween to see if I can get one on sale.

Serj Tankian

When I was in E-town I heard a song on the radio. I thought it was a new song from System of a Down. Well it turns out I was half right. System of a Down are currently on hiatus and it's members are each doing solo projects. The song I heard happened to be Tankian's first single off his new album 'Elect the Dead' which hits stores Oct 23rd. Today online I found the video for the first single Empty Walls. It's a really sweet video, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. Daron Malakian the other lead vocalist also has an album in the works that will be coming out in 08', under the name of Scars on Broadway. I looking foward to hearing both.

SOB

The CN Tower has been dethrone as the worlds tallest building. A building in Dubai now holds the title. We have had the record for 30 years and now some freakin Dubai's had to go and steal it. Do we really need a glitzy hotel, residential and commercial building that tall. Maybe we will come up with a way to add a few more feet the the CN so we can take it back. I'm glad I at least got to visit it one last time while it still was the world's tallest building.
Hard Sun

Here is a link for the music video 'Hard Sun' as performed by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam fame. It's off his new solo album/soundtrack for the film Into the Wild directed by Sean Penn. The album hits stores next week. The film and CD look and sound like it's going to be really good.

If Your Gonna Leave

Here is the music video for the first single off Emerson Hart's (Frontman of Tonic) first solo album. Hopefully I'll be able to find the album when I'm in Edmonton. I've waited a year for this album but then I couldn't get it in town when it came out. I couldn't even download it.
