Vanishing Point
Well apparently you can still teach a old dog new tricks. I just finished watching the film Vanishing Point for the first time. If you've never heard of or seen it before it's about a car delivery driver who makes a bet he can drive a 1970 Dodge Challenger from Colorado to Frisco, California in less than 15hrs. If you saw Grindhouse they discuss the film quite a bit Tarantino's Death Proof. This movie was really freakin' cool. It was like discovering The Warriors for the first time. When I was in Toronto I can across a copy on DVD pretty cheap. I figured that if Tarantino would mention it in one of his films it must be cool. Before watching it I checked out the trailer. I was shocked to realized that I have actually seen this before, not as a movie but as music video. For Audioslave's music video 'Show Me How To Live' they use clips from the film but substitute Audioslave for the guys driving the Challenger. This is my favorite Audioslave song and one of my favorite music video's in the last few years. When I first saw the video I thought everything had been shot for the video. Man...was I wrong. I should have realized they were using footage from something else since Cleavon Little was in the video. Here is the music video. It does give away the ending to the film but let's be honest...how likely are you going to go out and watch the film. If you do however Future Shop does have it for $6.99.
