PS3

Even though I have bashed Blu-ray in the past I have actually adopted the new technology. Just the other day I picked myself up a PS3. Not for the gaming but for watching movies. Being able to play games is just a sweet bonus. I probably won't even buy many games. I was a hard-core gamer when I was younger but through late high school and college I gave it up. I decided to jump back into things last year when I bought a 360. I bought that one specifically for Dead Rising but once I beat it I haven't really touched the system, even though I have a bunch of other games for it. (In my mind it was still worth the money even if I just played that one game). I wasn't even really thinking about getting a PS3 but at work we got in a open box one, so I was able to get a sweet deal on it. I had hated blu-ray b/c when they release films they haven't been putting out all the features that are available on the 2 disc DVD version of the film. I've noticed however that they have improved on that. From what I've read in all my DVD news sites blu-ray is going to win out or neither of the new formats will. Therefore with my enormous collection I better start buying the blu-ray version. The only down side I see is that Universal is the only major studio not producing films on blu-ray. Plus I don't have an HD TV yet so I can't get the most out of the technology. However even on a regular TV it still looks better than a regular DVD. Then I also picked up an optical cable so I could hook it up to my surround sound. All audio/visual cable are quite expensive but I'm able to get a really sweet deal on them, which makes for another great benefit about work.

Plus I have benefited from not opening DVDs when I buy them. I bought Enter the Dragon on DVD back in the beginning of June at Walmart for a really sweet price, but never opened it. Since Walmart has a 90 day return policy I was able to return it and get the Blu-ray version for only a few bucks more. Now if only I did the same on a few others.
