Born Losers
My computer is still acting up hence the lack of updates. Plus I've been constantly working and doing my best to get caught up on all the movies that I have bought over the last month. So here is something new for everyone. If you head over to Matt Good's myspace page you can hear his latest single Born Losers currently playing on the radio. The new album Hospital Music comes out July 31st.

Ocean's Thirteen4.5 G's out of 5. I thought it was a well crafted second sequel. It's far superior to the second film and almost just as great as the first one. Even though some of the things they pull off seem a little far fetched it doesn't really matter b/c it's a fun film. I liked the idea of pulling a job not to get rich or pay someone back but in order to get revenge. I love revenge tales, b/c sometimes you have to give karma a push. When I was in LA in February touring the Warner Brothers back lot we got to see the entrance to Al Pacino's new casino from the film. Unfortunately we were unable to take pictures of it. It was extremely cool b/c the set was only two of three stories tall but in one scene they show the entrance but then pan up and it goes on forever. Seeing it in real life then on the big screen was just freakin' awesome. The way they ended the sequel I was wondering if the french guy was going to be in this one at all. He was and he is lurking in the background through out the film. They could have very easily left this part of the story out but leaving it in as a very tiny back plot was enjoyable to see. One actor I was surprise to see in the film was Bob Einstien. When I saw him I was like holy shit it's Super Dave Osbourne.

Damn I'm Good
I love it whenever I get to use my movie knowledge at work to help a customer. Everyone in the store has learned that when it comes to movie questions I'm the one to talk to. However sometimes it's my day off when my fellow associates are asked questions that only I could possibly know. I have told then to just call my cell if they have movie questions. I really don't mind and I love doing it was. This is what I had to work with-a guy gets sucked into a cartoon world and it more of a cartoon world for adults. Do you know what it is for that? I got it right away. I'll put the answer in the comments section if you want to try and figure out yourself. When my boss told the guy I could here the guys astonishment over the phone. Then today I overheard someone talking with their son about some film she couldn't remember. I stepped in and told her if she can remember who was in it or what it was about I could come up with it for her. This is what I had to work with- a film with Kurt Russel, a cop, and a security system for a house. She almost had me stumped but it clicked in. Check my comments for the answer. It always brightens my day whenever I get to put my knowledge to good use.

30 Days of Night
Here is the trailer for the new Josh Harnett vampire film. It's based on a graphic novel about a small Alaskian town that experiences darkness for a full month each year. Thus making it the perfect place for a gang of vampires to raise hell. Sounds pretty cool to me. I want to check out the graphic novel before the the film comes out. The song in the trailer is Muse-Apocalypse Please. This marks the third Muse song for a film's trailer. I think having it set during the winter gives it a John Carpenter's The Thing-est look, which it really cool.

Relay For Life
Yesterday I competed in the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay For Life. It's a 12 hr community event to celebrate survivorship and raise money for cancer research. About a month or so ago FS put a team together to compete and asked whether I would like to participate. I thought it would be very nice to be apart of something like this so I signed up. Initially I though they just needed people who were willing to walk, run, or jog for 12 hrs. Then I realised I would have to collect donations. This is something I've never liked doing ever since I was in elementary school and beavers. I personally just don't like asking people for money, even if it is for a good cause. I don't mind others asking but it's something very hard for me to do. On the other hand I don't mind giving money out when it is for a good cause. Each member of our team had a $100 goal for donation's. I decided to just donate the goal myself. I also got my parents to donate so I could hit over my goal.
It was quite the long day for me b/c before I made it to the track I completed an 8 hr shift. The weather wasn't perfect but if it had been all sunny and hot it would have really sucked. I had originally thought I'd have to be walking around a track for 12 hrs. However this wasn't the case, even though I would have been up for it. I think I was only on the track for half the time I was there. Besides the walk, other small activities were held. One of them was an origami competition. I was sort of the ringer for the team. Origami was something I was really into as a kid. In elementary school I even got to teach my class how to make some. I used to remember how to make quite a few complex designs. Through the years it dropped down to only two; a frog and a lily. Then it was only the flower I remembered. I hadn't done one in so long that I completely forgot how to even make that one. While walking around the track I tried constructing one. It was really frustrating that I couldn't figure it out. I promised to keep walking the track until I figured it out. Three hours later I had one completed. There was one crucial step that I just couldn't remember. I'd like to think it wouldn't have taken me that long if I hadn't been walking while doing it. When the competition began the participants had to make a crane. I figured that is what we'd have to make since that is the most famous origami design. It would have been smart if I would've been practicing that ahead of time. The cold had really swollen my hands by then thus making folding paper extremely difficult. Plus the instructions for folding the Crane were really bad. Most people either gave up or ended up folding airplanes. After a quick attempt I chose just to fold the flower, but once again I forgot what the crucial step was, thankfully it didn't take me no 3 hours to remember it this time. No one was able to make the Crane and I handed in my much more impressive flower. In order to take the dullness out of running they had theme laps. One of them was a limbo lap. I can't remember the last time I even tried doing limbo. My team was quite shocked how low I could go. I was quite shocked myself to tell you the truth. They also had live entertainment. One of the shows was Can Can dancing. Damn those girls were hot. It made me regret not going to any Can Can shows while I was in Paris. Even though it was a long day it was extremely fun. I glad I got to participate in such an important cause. I also liked the fact that while walking I got to know my fellow associates a lot better.

I Am Legend
Here is the trailer for a film I've been waiting years for.

Lack of updates on my blog due to my youngest brother fucking up the computer.

Shoot 'Em Up
This new movie with Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti looks freakin' sweet. To my surprise it's written and directed by Michael Davis, the guy who wrote and directed Eight Days a Week.
The song in the trailer is Motley Crue-Kickstart My Heart.

Passing on the Dream...Sort of.
I've loved acting since I was young but it wasn't something I decided to pursue as a career. It is something more of a hobby to me now. One thing I want to do before I die is be an extra in a film. Tomorrow I have that opportunity. In town they are going to be filming a mini series with Sam Neil and Peter O'tool. My youngest brother was the assistant to the casting director so he and I had an in. I found out tonight that the call is for 5am. After working 12 hr days between both my jobs for the last few days I'm completely wiped out. As much as I really want to do it, it is something have to pass on. I have the next two days off from both my jobs and I really need to take that time to recuperate. The good news is as I'm writing this my brother gets a call letting him know that filming for tomorrow has been canceled. It has been raining for the last two days and it is forecasted to continue for tomorrow. Lucky me...They had planned to also film Thursday and if they go ahead for that day I will be able to fulfil another of my lifelong goals.

At The End
For those who missed it in the theatres here is the footage that was shown at the end of the credits for At Worlds End.

I Got Screwed!
No not literally ...lol. A lot of the times movie studios release a film on DVD then 6 months down the road or longer they end up putting out a better version. As long as I know this ahead of time or if it's at least a few years between a crap edition and a freakin' sweet one I don't really mind. On Saturday I noticed that my cost had dropped down to $10 for Labyrinth so I thought I would finally add it to my collection. Then today as I'm checking my daily news I find out that there is going to be a new 2 disc anniversary edition released in August. If only they told me that a few days earlier...Bastards!

Arms Around Your Love
Here is the lastest video from Chris Cornell. That now makes two video's (three if you count You know my name) from his lastest album before it even hits stores this Tueday. This is going to be a sweet album. The four songs I've heard so far from it kick ass.

Hostel Part 2I have seen it a week before it's released in theatres. How can that be you ask? Well I know some people, who know some people, who rob some people...kidding. Leaked online was a work print of the film. It's wrong but so what. Sometimes doing the wrong thing can feel so right...lol. I would've got in free to see it anyways when it came out so no biggie. I'll quote Kevin Klein from A Fish Called Wanda and say... DISAPPOINTED. Given that, I still give it 3 G's out 5. It was nowhere near as good as the first one. I gave the first one my 5 G rating. It was one of the best horror films to come along in recent years. As much as I loved the idea of Roth doing a second film I now wish he had just left it be. This part directly follows the events of the first one. Unlike At World's End you don't have to rewatch the previous entry to refresh your memory with whats going on. However that's exactly what I did. Not to refresh my memory but b/c I wanted to watch them back to back. In the beginning we get to see the outcome for Jay Hernandez' character... I was a little disappointed. If they had only added a bit more it would have been perfect. One aspect that made the first film so great was you didn't know what to expect, which made it truly terrifying. This time around that element is lost. You know what's going to happen ahead of time and you know who's part of the whole thing. There was one twist near the end and that's it. This time around they give more insight into the inner working behind 'Elite Hunting'. While it made it interesting I now wonder if it was creepier not knowing. As for the gore and violence I felt things were held back. However this could have been due to the fact I was watching a workprint. I'll end up seeing it in the theatre next week and hopefully things are different. Maybe I'll enjoy it more a second time around, then again I could end up disliking it more.
