Moving On Up
It's only been just over 4 months since I've started working at FS and it looks like I could already be moving up. When the manager of my department went on vacation I was asked to join what they call 'Future Leaders'. If you ever wanted to move up in the company this would be a great thing to be involved in, but it doesn't guarantee advancement. I thought why not...so I joined. So far I've only been to 3 of the meeting. Then just a few day ago I had my 60 day evaluation and in this meeting my boss wanted to know if I wanted to be trained as an Entertainment Coordinator. This would mean running the Entertainment Department. Supposedly they are looking for good people, especially in Edmonton. I was like hell yeah...plus I said I could easily move anywhere b/c I don't have ties anywhere. Plus I'd be getting the training from one of the best coordinators in the company. They wanted by boss to train all the coordinators in Alberta. So it's possible that by the end of the year I could be the Entertainment Coordinator for another store in Canada. Plus I may even be getting another raise starting May 1st, so I'll cross my fingers for that. It would make it my second raise since I started working their.
On a side note they are putting together a slow pitch baseball team. I've always wanted to be part of a company that had a baseball team. I loved playing it as a kid. The only crappy part back them was all the competitiveness. If you screwed up in anyway your teammates (even though there not suppose to) would be pissed. At least the pricks that thought they were better than you. Plus back then you were playing with really a bunch of strangers. It's not like you went to school with them, or hung out with them outside of the ball field. So it will be great playing again, just for the fun of it and with a group of friends. Plus I can't wait to kick some ass. In my own mind I was pretty good for a 9th grader. The last year I played my team won the gold medal for our age group.
