The HolidayYes, I'm going to give this movie my top honor.... 5 G's out of 5. It was a really great fun and sweet film. It was in it's last week at the Cineplex and I'm glad I got a chance to check it out on the big screen before it was too late. It had great characters and great acting by all. Jude Law was finally a nice guy that is likable. I really liked his character. One element of the film I enjoyed was it's connection to three of the things I enjoy in life...film, music and literature. Each of the main characters profession had some connection with these elements. Therefore I felt some type of connection with each of these characters. Kate Winslet's character befriends an elderly man who used to be a big time film writer back in the day. It would be so cool to know someone like that in real life. If there was one era I could relive, it would be Hollywood in the thirties. Diaz's character in the film puts together film trailers. There was actually a faux trailer in the film that actually had Lindsay Lohan and James Franco in it. However I think I may have been the only one in the theatre who thought that it was funny. I was also envious of Diaz's character house. At least one part of it. She had a wall of DVD's surrounding a huge television with surround sound. This is the exact type of set up I want for my own place. The funny thing is I probably have just about the same amount of movies as her character. The film also had some great tunes. They used 'Let Go' by Frou Frou which has been previously used in Garden State, but then they also used a song called 'just for now' which is sung by Imogen Heap who also is the vocalist for Frou Frou. I'm going to have to find a copy of this song to download. If it's not already too late to check this one out do so. It would also make for a great date movie.
