I checked out the new true-life sport film earlier this week. I figure I'd post what I thought about it just encase anyone actually wanted to know my opinion. For a story that can be summed up in one sentence I suppose it was an okay of a film. If you are really at all curious as to what the character went through then it's worth the watch. If not then just watch Remember the Titians over again.

Pennywise The Dancing Clown
I loved this movie as a kid. So to welcome the upcoming month of horror here is his introduction in IT.

My Boring Life
I have a lot of boring stuff to say that only I will probably find interesting so that is your warning before reading.
Once again I took a trip and spent way too much money. Then I end up feeling guilty for spending too much. Although I did show some restraint even though it may not look like it. For instance I only bought one RHCP concert tee for myself. I saw them my first night in town. The funny thing was that it was a sold out show but the seats to my right and left were both unoccupied. At least I had plenty of space around me. I wonder if people thought I paid for those two seats just so I’d have no one next to me.
The weather in Kamloops the week before I left and while I was E town was pretty ugly. Grey skies, cold, and windy. It was really quite depressing. I do however love this time of year. I’m glad to be back in town. Today we had great fall weather getting up into the mid 20’s.
While in town I saw 3 films. The first film was a repeat of sorts. At West Ed Superman Returns in IMAX 3D was in it’s final week. There were a lot of films I needed to see but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check out a feature in IMAX 3D. I’ve seen IMAX and 3D films before but never a studio film, only documentaries. Who knows when I’d get another chance? The whole movie wasn’t in 3D only 4 parts adding up to about 20 mins. Those 20 minutes certainly kicked butt. I’m glad I chose to see it. I also remembered when I first reviewed the film I said I need to see it again to decide if I really liked it. Well now that I have I still figure it was average. My last night in town I saw a double feature of The Protector and Black Dahlia. Tony Jaa’s film was only good for the fight scenes. If you want to watch a mindlessly entertaining martial arts film it will be right up your alley. Personally Ong-Bak is a better film only b/c I think it has a better story. Jackie Chan having a cameo was pretty cool, sort of like a handing off of the torch. In between films I was poster hunting. I haven’t got any new posters for over a year, so it was a long time coming. In total I walked out the 72 new posters, however some of them are duplicates. The ones I was glad to walk away with are a Beowulf and Grendal, the teaser and official for Nightwatch, and a teaser for V, which my brother tells me that in some circles is selling for $70. This time around I was also able to drive my Land of the Dead bus shelter poster home. Last time I couldn’t fit it in the car b/c I bought too much stuff and I also had 2 other people in the car. Then I saw Black Dahlia, which I enjoyed. It seemed almost quite different from the trailer. It was almost like the Dahlia case wasn’t even a big part of the film yet in the end it was all a long. It sort of had a De Palma MI confusion when it came to explaining what happened. All you need to do is pay more attention when they spell things out.
I also ended up buying more t-shirts. I certainly don’t need anymore. I have a shirt to last me everyday for a few months. I’m a t-shirt and jeans sort of guy so that explains it. That and I like to buy shirts that are movie or music related. This time I ended up with 2 ‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High’ and 2 ‘Rocky’ shirts, as well as a Chili Peppers shirt. My brother bought me the Fast Times shirts at an Urban Outfitters. This is one of those really expensive stores where a vintage looking Rolling Stones tee can go for 50 bucks. That’s exactly how much the Fast Times shirts were originally. Although my bro got then for only 10. The sad thing is I probably would have paid the 50 bucks. My two Rocky shirts come in at a normal price range. I was impressed that not only did they have the Sly shirts but Ivan Drago and Clubber Lang. So I picked up Rocko’s opponents since I already had a Sly themed one. If I didn’t stick too a select couple of clothing stores I would go mad with all the possible choices.
Before I left for Europe I posted how I’ve hadn’t had too much luck with watches recently. I had one watch that lasted 12 years them after that I’ve had a different one every 6 months to a year. I thought this last watch was finally going to be a keeper. I bought it for Europe and it lasted through that. Then a month ago the most important button fell off. However maybe it meant to break this time around. In my search for a new watch I found my dream watchband that I’ve been searching for, for like the last 6 years. It’s a vintage looking brown leather cuff. They were selling the band by itself, so I still don’t have a new watch but at least I finally have the type of watchband I’ve been looking for. I love wearing right now, it has that really great new leather smell to it.
This trip has also made me more of a collector of action figures. My youngest brother is a huge collector. You can see part of his collection in an earlier post I made. The number one item to pick up in E town for myself was the plaid zombie from ‘Dawn’. Also released in Neca’s Cult Classic series 4 was Shaun from Shaun of the Dead. The bro didn’t want it so I felt the need to pick it up for myself. I also found the 12” talking Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko for cheap so that’s now part of my collection as well.
Then of course there is all the DVD’s I bought. I only had a small list and ended up buying more than I had planned on. I bought 24 new films. You can see the new titles on my DVD page. I’ve also made it past the 1000 DVD marker. Now if some people read to deep into it, it may seem like I’m trying to fill some void in my life and no matter how many I buy it will not fill the gap. Well maybe that’s true to some extent, but at least I’m left with a kickass library of films.J
Stores are also getting ready for Halloween. I love this holiday. Not for the connection to trick or treating although it certainly was as a kid, but it’s ties to my favourite film genre. There is one store in particular that offers cool Halloween stuff: Spencer Gifts. Kamloops however is lacking this store and the closest one in 2 hours away in Kelowna. I also just happen to be a member of their rewards program b/c I’m always buying stuff when I go to one. For many years I’ve wanted to go to one in the fall to check out their cool Halloween stuff. Then last year that dream came true. They had so much cool shit. That’s where I picked up my Dawn of the Dead poster. This time around I bought a sweet Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees mask. Every year I’ve been on the look out for an awesome Freddy Krueger mask, but all the ones I’ve seen suck. I’ve only ever seen one cool one but it was like $70 and I was only 14 or something like that so I didn’t have that kind of money. I do however have an awesome authentic glove my brother bought in the mid 80’s. Then the store also has sweet women’s costumes. Have you guessed where my next thought is going. Buy your g/f a sexy Vampire, Wonder Women, Supergirl or how about Rainbow Brite costume. Play a little themed dress. Giggitty!
All in all it was a very good trip. I got to spend time with my brother and his fiancée as well as their dog Darko. I’m so getting pet in the next couple of years. I also got to see my best friend and his wife. Every year for the last 3 years they have moved into a new place. This year they finally bought a place so hopefully it will be the final year me having to find where they live.
Now it’s time to enter reality and start living towards a real life. I have a degree, an excellent resume of work with references, no attachments, no debt, a small amount saved up, my own car and I’ve quit my one dead end job. My assault on the world begins now. Power Garrett. Watch out, here I come.

Sad But True
| Your Social Anxiety Level: 52% |

Funny enough some people would never guess this about me while it may not surprise some.
I Quit!
I just got back from handing in my letter of resignation. Damn that felt good. That is until I wake up in the morning and actually realize what I have done. I’ve wanted to quit for a while now. I kept saying I’ll do it in a few weeks, then next month, and then I finally said I’d work till the end of summer. Working at a Bar used to be really fun, that is until the first club closed down and they opened up in their new location. Many people have said that my job had a 6-month life span and I’ve pushed it to almost 2 years. Funny enough on the weekend some guy asked how I liked working as a porter. It was one of those really crappy nights where 2 porters were stuck doing the job of 3-4 people. I say on nights like these they suck. He replied that he has been a porter for over 2 years and it only gets better after that. I was like fuck that. Was that a sign that I should stay? Yeah, well every time I think something is a “sign” or want it to be, it turns out to be bullshit. Anyway, this job was holding me back. Do you think I was going to be doing that shit for the rest of my life? Although I will miss the money.
I sort of just fell into my nightclub career. My friend who was working both at the hotel and club wanted to know if I wanted to help him out one night at the club. After that one night I just happened to find myself fully employed. It was sort of good timing b/c I was sort of thinking about getting a part time job to help pay for my Euro trip. I was getting paid $10 an hour and being tipped out $45-$70 every night. It was great pay for just having to stock fridge’s, and pick up empty bottles and glass. Don’t get me wrong it was hard work and I worked my ass of many nights. It was also a great set up. The bar was wonderfully designed. At least I thought from a working point of view. Then I was offered continued employment at the new place. It was crap right from the start. I thought that it was because I wasn’t used to the new place and that things would get better in a month or two. But they never did. It improved slightly in some areas while others suffered. This new place was pretty spread out. Instead of one big main bar they have a medium sized main bar and two sidebars. So I’m doing a shit load of running all night long. In the past all that was needed were 2 porters but here they need 3 people and occasionally it helps to have a fourth. The tip out has also suffered, now I only make $25 to $40 a night and I have to work harder for it.
I was definitely at the breaking point this weekend. When I came back from Edmonton I thought I’d give it another week or two then I’d quit or even wait till I found another job. Then on Fri I was basically told how to do my job from the boss who has never been around any night that I’ve worked. That pissed me off but by the next day I didn’t really care. I tend to get over most things quick. Part of my life motto: Don’t sweat the small stuff. Then Sat was definitely a final straw. The Bartenders have been getting into the habit of taking breaks during the night. When they do our 3rd porter acts as the sub bartender. Every once in a while is okay but it is becoming more and more and they are taking longer and longer. All while 2 people are stuck doing the job of 3-4 people. Sat was one of the busiest nights and our manager was one of the bartenders for the night. She takes off for an hour or more leaving just two porters. Then when she gets back she and everyone else complains they have no glassware. How I wanted to just walk out on them all and say if you want glasses get them your damn self. My younger brother is one of the other porters and it would be hilarious if he quit soon after me. They’ve had troubles finding people to work as porter ever since they opened. I’ve already worked with 3 different people. I’ve also learned I never want to work with family again. I’ve worked with each one of my brothers. I felt like I always had to look out for my younger brother, which can just add to the stress. Then I don’t think I could ever work for my oldest brother. If your reading this Dylan which you probably are your a bossy bastard to work for. Maybe it’s just b/c I was your younger brother. Although it’s probably a good trait to have in your position now having to deal with all the little shits that work for you.
I’ve had a good run. I’ve met and worked with some wonderful people, became more of a social drinker (although I don’t know how much of a good thing that really is), and learned a lot about bartending. It’s also going to be nice to have my Fri and Sat nights back after 2 years. It is also very scary. I’m leaving a good paying job and don’t have another lined up. I still have the hotel but we’re basically entering our slow season so I’m mostly only working 2 days a week. Although if I was really desperate they could accommodate me and give me more shifts helping our maintenance guy out. When I was in Edmonton there just so happened to be a few jobs I probably could have got. My brother wanted me to apply for a management position or projectionist at a Cineplex and one of his friends could have set me up at framing houses. Then I heard that some McD’s are paying employees between $14 and $17/hr. I currently plan to put my movie skills to use and try my hand as an entertainment associate in retail. If I find that I enjoy it then maybe I apply somewhere to manage an HMV or something and maybe open my own store. Currently in town the best place to try at first is Future Shop so that’s what I plan on doing this week. If that falls through I have a few others thing to try. As a fall back my Mom says they would probably hire me at Zellers in entertainment. Lets just hope it doesn’t come to that. Damn that felt good to get all that off my chest.

Jackass
Yes, I'm a fan of Jackass. I don't care who you are, try not to laugh at some of their shit. So today I saw number 2. It was so wrong, but yet so funny. I think it was way better than the first one and I thought that one was awesome. So if your a fan you'll enjoy yourself once again. I can't wait to see if the DVD has scenes that couldn't make it into the film.
Fan or no fan of the show here is my favorite skit: The Brad Pitt Adduction. Yes I'm talking the real Brad Pitt.

Here is the trailer for the new film based on Frank (Sin City) Miller's graphic novel. The story is about the Spartans in an outnumbered fight one hundred thousand to one against the Persians.
The techno song in the last half of the trailer is NIN's Just Like You Imagined.
Before I left for Edmonton I signed out the graphic novel at the Library. I look forward to checking this one out.

Edmonton
For anyone who cares I made it to Edmonton safe. No Deers landing on the hood of my car this time. I was almost dreading driving down (No, not b/c of the wildlife). B/c Hinton got like 20 inches of snow the day before. I hate driving in the snow. Luckily it didn't snow at all on the drive down and the roads were perfectly clear. I hate driving in snow but I guess that may also be a good thing b/c I'm them more careful when I do.
I also just got back seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers. FUCK YEAH! Dude that was super sweet. I had sweet seats on the floor and perfect view of the stage. The only thing I was slightly disappointed about was they didn't play any of my really favorite songs such as Fight like a Brave, Taste the Pain, Suck My Kiss, Breaking the Girl etc. Basically stuff from the beginning. They mostly concentrated on the last three albums and played nothing from when Navarro was a member. They also didn't play my fav song 'Wet Sand' off their new album. But all of that doesn't mean I really enjoyed myself. With such a vast catalogue of killer songs it's hard to please everyone especially when the album they are promoting is a double album. Mars Volta was the opener and they sucked. Its the second time I've seen them as an opener and they still blow. That fact that the songs they were playing were so goddamn long really pissed me off. Time for some sleep, so I can spend tomorrow shopping.

Movie Reviews
The Last Kiss
Dude, WTF? Don't go into this film thinking it's some sweet little romantic dramedy. (You may not have really thought but anyways). But this was quite the serious drama. Zach's character did some really assholish things. At least he realizes that he was an asshole or I would have really hated his character. And what's with all the nudity in the first half of the film? So the question is was it a good film? I thought that it was okay. I certainly didn't come out of the film hating it. I had a different expectation so I will most definitely have to watch this one a second time around. They lift the plot from Eight Days a Week for one point in the story, which I thought was well done. If you've never seen 'Eight Days' I recommend it. The soundtrack kicks ass, if you liked the Garden State soundtrack you'll love this one.
Hollywoodland
I really didn't care for this film much. It's not that it was bad though. I wish there was just more to it. And that's all I have to say about that.
The Illusionist
Very good film. I saw it Tuesday and don't really have much to add to it. If you want to see it then you'll enjoy it.

What a Waste of a Day
Yesterday I had most of the day off and was planning on doing a few things. After I got home from work in the morning I watched some TV for a bit then decided to take a nap for a couple of hours. That being my downfall. Half way into my nap my phone rings, which just also happened to be sitting right next to my head. It seems like whenever I'm abruptly awoken from a nap I end up with a really severe headache, which is exactly what happened this time around. But not only did I have one of the worst headaches I've had in a while I was also feeling nauseous. I even threw-up a couple of times. It has been ages since I puked and drinking wasn't the cause. Thus for the last 20 hours I've been confined to my bed. Finally my headache is gone, but I still feel a little nauseous. I'm really ticked that it wasted my one day basically free of work. Hopefully I improve b/c I'm stuck working 6 shifts before I leave on Sunday.

Over 62, 000
That's how many zombies I have killed in Dead Rising. One of the things I have done all day long is kill zombies so I could unlock the Zombie Genocide achievement and obtain Mega Man's Arm Cannon. In order to do that you need to kill 53,594 zombies. So I've been running zombies over for a good portion of the day while listening to Velvet Revolver, System of A Down and NIN. I took a few breaks here and there to watch more Lost episodes and went to The Convenant. So I now finally have the arm cannon. I haven't used it much right now but so far I'm not really impressed. I think that's just b/c I'm tired and have been up for almost 24 hrs. I think once I get the Mega Man costume and start using it more it will be really fun. It was definitely worth spending the day to obtain. I started with a level 23 and worked my way up to a level of 40 just by running zombies over in vehicles. Now all the side stuff won't be as difficult. Before I play again though I'm going to have to upload the original Dawn of the Dead and remake soundtrack so I can kill zombies to that music. I can't wait that will be so much fun.
I also discovered how long the batteries will last in the wireless controller. As I was starting to play for the day my controller kept disconnecting. Once I changed the batteries it was fine. So in conclusion, if your playing hardcore it will last for less than a month.
And I have made it to the final episode of Lost. I remember when season 2 aired that people didn't like it as much. I don't see why not. This has been another great year. I'm now going to check out the season finale before I fall asleep. Then I'll be able to start the next season of Smallville tomorrow. Yeeeaaah Boooooooooy!

The Covenant
Sorry to say, but this movie sucked. I was really hoping I'd like it, but no. It just dragged on and on. I felt like it was lacking in action and it took to damn long to get to anything good. By that point I just wasn't interested in it anymore. I say don't waste your time and rewatch The Craft and Warlock.
This just also happened to be the first "early afternoon" show I watched. I was the only person sitting in their biggest theatre until halfway through the credits four other people showed up. I'm glad the bastards are losing money. From my experience there would have been much more people if it had been a late screening. The only good part was I got matinee prices.

Automatic Transfusion
Right On! Here is the story for a new kick ass Zombie film coming out this year: Three teens find themselves in a town over run with zombies. Deciding to fight back, they go on a punch you in the throat, action packed, non stop ride through the city, woods, and schools. Fuck Yeah!
You can watch the trailer here. As you can see from the trailer they have gone the route of the fast Zombie, which I'm against but that doesn't stop me from enjoying a good Zombie film. It's also cool that the actor who plays one of the main characters is named Garrett.

Oh, it's On!
It's on like Donkey Kong. The Cineplex has decided to go to war with me. They are fucking with my movies. So if you have been following the story they have decided to axe the late night showings, which I protest and wrote a letter. According to the paper and website they would have late shows only on Fri, Sat, and Sun. So after my long work weekend I chose to see one of the many films that I need to see this week. I drive to the theatre and surprise, surprise no f-ing late shows. Ruining my night, thank-you very much. At first I call my bro who says they will just have it on Fri and Sat nights. Then I call my connection to the one in town to see what the hell is going on. The theatre here in town was one of the places they were testing these new hours. The good news I hear at least is that they also hate the new time change. They are also not making as much. Fingers crossed they will go back to normal by the end of the week. Hopefully my letter will have made some impact. Before it was just a letter of concern. Now they are going to get a letter of complaint for listing showtimes that didn't exist.

The End of Faith
Tonight I was talking to one of the cool tour directors at the hotel and he mentioned this book that sounds really awesome. It's called The End Of Faith and it's written by Sam Harris. The book is focused on debunking religious faith. He calls for the end to religious faith in the modern world and argues how such faith lacks a rational base. Sounds pretty interesting to me so I thought I let others know if anyone else is interesting in books like this.

Severence
This movie was the dog's bollocks. I first heard about this film back in July. For those who haven’t been paying attention to my blog it is about a sales division of corporate execs going on a weekend team-building retreat in the mountains of Eastern Europe, where they encounter a renegade war-crazed soldier seeking revenge. It just came out at the end of August over seas. It will most likely not come out till next summer in North America if in fact it is ever released. I was luckly enough to download a screener copy. Holy shit was this a great movie. ‘Shaun’ was a great zombie horror comedy and this is it’s equal in the slasher genre. This is another film that I’m adding to favorite of 06. You can check out the trailer here and also play a game that’s sort of fun. I’m so glad I have british blood running through my viens.

Pissed Off
Last night I mentioned that the Cineplex wasn't offering shows between 8:30 and 10. I thought it had something to do with the holiday. I found out today that Kamloops will no longer be having the late shows Sunday thru Thurday and will be instead offering late 4 and early 5 showings. Night show are usually the only times I'm able to go. That and I don't have to deal with little shit kids at night shows. It pissed me off so much that I wrote the head offices. The last time I was this pissed off and wrote a letter was when the college made every one have to pay for the UPass. My letter to the college made no difference but it better have an effect this time around.

Crank
Tonight's movie was Crank. I wanted to see something at the Cineplex but the bastards didn't have anything playing after 8pm (due to the holiday I guess) and I needed a late film so I was stuck going to the Paramount. Don't get me wrong I wanted to see Crank but I wanted to see it tomorrow. Before I went into it I thought they should have just called it Transporter 3. Personally I thought it was badly awesome. I don't know how else to describe it, but I did have fun watching it. It was a really entertaining action film with lots of things too make you laugh. Some are hating it, some are loving it. I liked it, it was a fun movie. While I do love Statham I hope his next few films steer away from these types of films. Someone give him a role like in Snatch, London, or Mean Machine.

Looking Forward to...
Two films I'm really looking forward to are Feast and The Science of Sleep.
Feast is a horror movie that was featured in the third season of Matt Damon and Ben Afflecks's show Project Greenlight. For those not familiar with the show it is where a screenplay from a newcomer is handpicked from thousands by a panel including Ben and Matt. Then a first time director is chosen and they are givin a million dollars to shoot the film and the show documents the process. This time around Wes Craven was also on the panel that chose the screenplay. What I like about the story is it's simplicity. Patrons locked inside of a bar are forced to fight monsters. It's got that From Dusk till Dawn plot that was so cool. It comes out on DVD Oct 17th and will have a limited theatrical run in select cities. Here is a trailer.
The other film is The Science of Sleep, which comes from the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I saw the trailer on Bon Cop and it looked cool in the vien of Eternal, Adaptation, and Being John Malkovich. The plot is about a man held captive by the people in his dreams and he tries to wake himself up and take control of his own imaginings. Here is the trailer.

Concerts
It is now official that I will be going to Red Hot Chili Peppers. SUPER SWEET!!! Not only will I be going but I'll be on the floor. Something like row 37. My brother was possibly going to get me a ticket from a friend of his. Then he told me they were releasing more tickets and I asked him to try that way too even if it meant that I wouldn't be near him. I just want to see them; I didn't care if I'm by myself. I've seen big concerts by myself before. Upon a couple of tries and a little bit of chance he got me a floor seat. I can even swap tickets with him and experience it from the floor and the stands.
Then I looked into Rolling Stones tickets. Luckily there are still some available. Although they are at the back of the stadium but eye level facing the stage. I thought they were going to sell out in a matter of minutes like Halifax did. Then I found out that the openers in Halifax are Kanye West, Alice Cooper, and Sloan. That would help explain the fast sell out. The opener in Vancouver is Van Morrison. My brother maybe heading out this way so I may have him to go with. If I do get tickets I think I will definitely have to go see The Who then. Just so I could say I've seen the Stones, Robert Plant, and The Who live.
And for those interested, yesterday I beat the overtime mode of Dead Rising. Now I've seen the true ending to the story. All I have to do now is complete all the little extras in order to say I've finished the game with 100%.

Beerfest
In the time I took off from gaming I went to the new Broken Lizard film. I really had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately it was a let down. It was fairly lame. It had some laughs, some cool moments, but as a whole it sucked. If you want to see an extremely funny movie about beer watch Strange Brew. Looks like I'll still be waiting for them to make something as good as Super Troopers. The flip side is I didn't appreciate how good Super Troopers was until I watched it for a second time. I also thought Club Dread wasn't that bad after a second watch. So I guess I'll see about this one. Oh and if your curious about their first film Puddle Cruiser don't waste your time if you expect a laugh riot of a comedy. I don't remember really laughing at all during the film. It wasn't that bad of a story though, just not funny.
