I'm a Golden God! I'm on Drugs!

Earlier this afternoon; after only 4 days, I beat Dead Rising. Yeah Boy! The old man still gots it. Of course that's not completing every little thing in the game that's just beating the main story line. There are actually 7 ways the game can end and I've done 3 of them so far. In order to get the true ending for the game I have to beat it in overtime mode and I only got this mode if I finished the main story. Still got some work ahead of me. I can't wait. Funny thing is my character beat the game in his underwear and so did I. Hehe. I'm also coming down from my DayQuil. Time for another dose.
Update

Tonight I went to the hotel to play my 360 in the amphitheatre. Fuck that was fun. If you have the means I highly recommend you trying it out. It was so choice. Hehe. I don't know if I can go back to playing it on regular TV. One of my buddies is a manager at the Cineplex and a fan of gaming so I need to talk him into setting it up at the theatre so we can play. That would be so bitchin. I also got to probably one of the best parts to play on the big screen and that was driving in a car taking out a shit load of those motherfuckin Zombies. Yeah Boy!

Road trip time. On September 17th I'm driving up to Edmonton to hang out with my oldest brother and see my best friend for a few days. Here's the possible sweet part, my brother may be able to get his hands on a ticket for me to go see Red Hot Chili Peppers. That would be so cool. I'll also be in town to celebrate my friend's birthday which will be nice. I was in Edmonton last year at about the same time. Looks like I may make it a tradition to head out there at that time. The day I drive back he will also be driving back to Kamloops to go on his annual hunting trip. So we can cruise side by side back to town. Jen gave me the idea to have walkie talkies, so I'm going to borrow the pair from work or he has his dads we could use. I'm going to have so much fun with those things.

I've also had a bad cold since I got my 360. So I've been heavily medicating myself. Boy do I love DayQuil. Here's the shitty part, two days before I got sick I even said to myself I haven't been sick in a really long time. Then I get sick 2 days later. Karma's a motherfuck isn't it.

Here are some music video's you may be interested in. They are both of songs off The Last Kiss soundtrack.

Ride - Cary Brothers (Features clips from the film)
Snow Patrol - Chocolate ( song used in the trailer, video is from 04)

WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Singingly -I got an XBOX, I got an XBOX, I got an XBOX, its a 360, its a 360. Doing the Happy Dance, Doing the Happy Dance. I'm goin to be killing Zombies in Dead Rising like a mofo. If anybody needs me I'll be in my room playing with myself....Yeah you would think that.
A Scanner Darkly

I didn't think I would be able to make the showing of this last night but thankfully I did. This movie was so fucking good. It is definitely one of my favorite films of 06. If you even had a remote interest in seeing the film you will like it.

Too bad it may be the very last film that I see at Northhills, b/c from what I read it is being torn down at the end of September. It blows having to lose a screen. If it wasn't for Northhills picking up independenst films I wouldn't have been able to see this, Before Sunset, Beowulf and so many others. I have a bunch of memories with that place. Each film I see in the theatre I have a fairly good memory tied to it including who I saw it with and what happen that day. They even held a Wedding there once which I thought was pretty cool. At least we still have the Paramount.
You Are 28% Sociopath

From time to time, you may be a bit troubled and a bit too charming for your own good.
It's likely that you're not a sociopath... just quite smart and a bit out of the mainstream!

IT'S ALL MINE!

I have made the final payment on my car. I bought it brand new in August 2002 and paid in off in 4 years. It's going to be nice not having to shell out $275 a month in car payments.
The Dead Are Back

That's right Zombie fans. George A. Romero has signed on to write and direct "George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead". Click here for the full story. Personally it sounds like the story is a piece of shit but I have faith in the man.

2007 will be the year of the Zombie. Now I have this, Day of the Dead remake, 28 Weeks Later, Fido, Grind House, Night of the Living Dead 3D, Automaton Transfusion, and The Mad to look forward to.

Movie Reviews

Here are some short movie reviews.

Snakes on a Plane: Better than avg. Had some pretty good laughs. If you actually want to see it then you'll enjoy it, if not you probably wont think it is really all that great. If your a fan of Sam being the cool ass Bad Mother Fucker that he is then you'll also have some fun here as well. It will be one of those films that will be quoted for some time. Although I felt like it took too long to get into the good shit. Here is a link to the music video Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) by Cobra Starship that plays during the end credits and has a cameo by Sammy. Here is an interesting thing to point out - On IMDB it has an 8.0 rating with 15, 000 votes.

Bon Cop, Bad Cop: Really good Canadian film. If you thought the trailer was funny you'll really enjoy this film. It one of those really funny buddy cop films that actually comes with a good story line as well. The majority of the film they do speak French so you will have to be reading through out but they do have parts where it is just English. I can't seem to find the good English trailer that I saw in the theatre but here is the French one that is close to it.

Accepted: Another above avg comedy. If you need a film with some pretty good laughs this would be one to see. It was directed by Steve Pink who co-wrote High Fidelity and Grosse Point Blank. If only he had a hand in writing this one as well, this could have been one of the best comedies of the year.

The Angry Nintendo Nerd

Some guy who is pissed off about the terrible video games that consumed many frustrating hours of his childhood. These are acutally pretty funny videos.

Here are his reviews on
The Karate Kid. I totally agree with this one, but I still liked playing it. I did however like playing the bonus games.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit. All true but once again a game I loved playing.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles. Another I still loved to play.
Back to the Future. I only just played this game on the computer last month and it is so true.
Castlevania 2- Simon's Quest.
Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde

I bet if I went back and played these games I would be just as pissed off.
Prison Break

Last night Season 2 premiered. I stuck to my plan and watched it. Fuck, this is going to be an awesome season. It's going to be very tempting to watch instead of waiting for it on DVD.

Here are promos for this season. They sort of contain spoilers, so you are forwarned. One is only 44 seconds but what I like about it is they use the Styx song Renagade. It makes a cool fit for the promo. You may recognized the song from Billy Madison when he stumbles out of his tent drunk with a keg above his head. The other one here is more lenghty coming in at over 3 minutes.
MacBeth

Hey all. It's been another somewhat long absence since I've posted. Namely due to lots of work. If I haven't been at work I've been sleeping. Now my work load this past week has finally started to catch up and take its toll on my body. Years of carrying bags up and down stairs have completely destroyed my knees, plus I've really damaged my right shoulder. I'm normally on loads of painkillers just to function at work. This being a bad thing b/c I just end up doing more damage. Thankfully this is my final year doing that job, b/c my body just can't take it anymore. Winter is the time when my body can relax but for the last two years I've worked at the club and I do just as much heavy lifting their as I do at the hotel. Last night I slept for close to 12 hours and woke up still tired. If I didn't have to work I would have slept the entry day away. I think that is my plan for today after I'm done on the computer.

Normally Tue is the only day I ever get up early, so I can be at the store at opening to get my DVD's. This Tue however doesn't have anything spectacular coming out that would need me to be there that early. Just Poseidon and The Wizard come out but I can wait till the afternoon to pick them up. Right now I really feel like moving to the middle of nowhere where I can just be left alone. Do nothing all day, and not have to deal with anybody. Just be cut off from the outside world. I could so live a life like that sometimes. Right here I did have a lot more written but I deleted it. Then I started to explain why and deleted that. FUCK!!!!!!!!!! I need to take a vaction from my brain. Please someone just put me in a vegatative state for while. Wake me up when my Xbox arrives.

So anyways the post is titled Macbeth for a reason. I just heard about another one of Shakespeare's plays becoming a contemporary film set in the ganglands of Melbourne. It's directed by Geoffrey Wright, the guy who did Romper Stomper. You can see the trailer here. Looks like it's going to be cool. I just love it when his plays are set in a modern world. Right now I'm in the middle of Hamlet staring Ethan Hawk. There is just something I find so cool about that film. Funny enough I hated it the first time I saw it.

The Last Kiss

The soundtrack for Zach Braff's new film is out. The release passed me by and I didn't even know it. It wasn't until I saw it at HMV in Kelowna that I knew it was out. It was released on August 8th for those curious. I haven't listen to it except for the song by Snow Patrol, so I don't know how good it is. The songs were hand picked by Braff just like on the Garden State soundtrack, so if you enjoy that one you'll probably like this one.
Snakes Message.

Do you want to get a personalized message from Samuel L Jackson? A promotional gimmick on the official website for the film allows you to set up a personalized message to someone from Jackson that can then be either sent by email or phone. Tonight my younger brother got a phone call from Sammy. It says the persons name, the sender name, and some other personalized stuff. Here is an example of one I set up for a friend of mine. It's pretty cool hearing Sam say my name.
I’m Back

And in more ways than one. Yesterday night I came back from spending the day in Kelowna. I was planning on updating last night but I was so physically exhausted that I just couldn’t do it. All in all it was a good day although it did start off with me once again reopening the wound on my finger. Hopefully that will be the last time.

I really needed to just get away from things this week especially when I will be doing 4 shifts this Sat. I remember I did so many of those days last summer. This is first and most likely last time I’ll have to do a day like that but who knows. Things can change and usually do.

As for my day. One of the main reasons was to head to Spencer’s Gifts and hopefully get my hands on Neca’s Cult Classic series 4 figures for Dawn of the Dead and Shaun of the Dead. Unfortunately they didn’t have them. That’s okay b/c my oldest bro is looking out for them in Edmonton. I’m also planning on making a trip sometime out there in Sept so I can get them then. It was also the first time in memory that I didn’t buy anything at the store.

The second biggest reason was to go Seadooing and Parasailing. Although we never did get the chance to go parasailing. The summer aint over yet and I’m heading back there before it is. For an hour it cost $65 plus the cost of gas. Ryan and I first went Seadooing last year around the end of summer. The day we had planned to go that year was really overcast and windy. It was really cold when we were getting splashed with water. The water itself was surprising warm but once it mixed with the wind and the speed at which we were going to was freezing. My jet ski then shot water straight up out the back so when we would stop too talk I would then dart off spraying him. I did it so many times. This time my jet ski didn’t have that function but his did. Thus I had to come up with new ways to spray water at him. Last time I was fairly cautious while driving b/c I didn’t want to cause myself to fly into the water. This time I was way wilder. The best part was tying and succeeding at doing 180’s at high speeds. Every time I would do it I caused huge waves and for a few of them Ryan was right in the way. Ryan tried to do the same thing a few times but wasn’t able to do it. The funniest part came in one attempt were he flung himself off the jet ski. One second he’s on the ski and then there was a splash of water and no rider. He said that as he flew in the air he was still in the rider position. I felt like jumping off myself but I paid for riding and didn’t want to waste my time in the water. While doing the 180’s you have to hang on real tight or else I would have ended up in the drink like my buddy and today my body is feeling it. My arms are still quite sore and my neck hurts a bit. One of the turns I made so fast I gave myself whiplash. When we were done we had the contest of who had the most fun. That is judge by how much gas we used. Last time he beat me by two bucks. This time I kicked his ass by 8 bucks.

Another important part of my Kelowna trips are games of 10 pin. I only played two games this time instead of my usually three. First game I got a 142. Considering I haven’t played in over 7 months it was a decent first game. Game two I got a score of 172, which is a lot better.

This trip I made a very important decision to come back to the world of gaming. Ever since the demise of the N64 I haven’t been too much into the world of games. When it came time to go with a Gamecube, xbox, or PS2 I decided to take a break and concentrate on school and spending time with my g/f. I thought that I would never really get back into it but one game has changed my mind: Dead Rising. That and I no longer have school, or a g/f to devote time too. I think seeing the TV trailer for the game was a huge decider. Then I had to consult my gamer friend to know if I should invest in a 360. I really don’t want to get a system that sucks since Microsoft in my opinion is not a tested gamer system unlike Nintendo or Playstation. His opinion persuaded me, that and this game is only on the Xbox.

I was just going to get the basic core system but then I find out that if I want to save or have backward compatibility I needed the 20 GB hard drive that comes with the more expensive version. Upon further investigation if you want to save you could also get the memory unit instead of the more expensive hard drive. I can’t wait to rub that fact into my friends face b/c he insists that the only way to save is to have the hard drive. I was planning on buying the system today but where I was going to get it didn’t have any available. So I going to have to wait to for there new order to come in. I could buy it somewhere else but then I wouldn’t get the 15% discount or the cheaper price match that I found.

I think my younger brother is even more psyched about me getting it than I am. While I was gone he looked into the game availability in town. He found out that EB games sold out in 5 hours of the day of the release. He also was told that Canada only got 2000 copies and EB got half of them. The only place in town that he found that had some copies were Walmart where they were even cheaper. So I picked up my copy before they were sold out there too. Now I’m stuck with a game and no system to play it on.

This post is turning into a novel so I’ll make this last part short. When I got back into town we ended up going to see Pulse. It wasn’t going to cost me anything so why not eh? The only thing that the film had going for it was it’s apocalyptic nature, so that made me enjoy it a tiny bit. If it didn’t have the apocalyptic coolness going for it, it would have been a piece of shit. My friend wasn’t a fan of it and he says that most people coming out have been saying it’s garbage.

Well that’s my overly long update. Tonight (unless I get called into work) I going to a staff showing of Bon Cop, Bad Cop.

Here is an extended copy of the TV trailer that was a huge decider. Then there is this 20 minute long video with a bunch of footage.

Comic News

I just finished Watchmen the other day. It was a fairly good graphic novel. It will definitely make for a good movie if done right.

Originally scheduled for a June 28th release was number 5 in the Walking Dead series. After the first few weeks of looking for it town I gave up for a bit. Now Amazon lists the release date for Dec 25th. It sucks were going to have to wait that long. At least I have Southland Tales to keep me occupied while I wait.

Man of the Year

This looks like it could be pretty funny. It's the new film from Berry Levinson and stars Robin Williams. It about a late night political talk show host (in the likes of Jon Stewart) who on a lark decides to run for president and unexpectedly wins. You can catch the trailer here. One reason I may get a kick out of this film is that just about a month or two ago my friend and I were having a discussion and thought that Jon Stewart should run for president and Rick Mercer should run for prime minister. Maybe then I would vote, hehe.
Talladega Nights

I saw it a couple days ago and I thought I would warn people not to go. I thought the film sucked, plane and simple. Yes, it has a couple of laughs here and there but that didn’t save it. If you fall into the stupid yank crowd then you will probably get a kick out of the film.

Any movie where Will Ferrell has been the main star has sucked in my opinion. The only exception I guess would be ELF, I thought that was okay. If you share the same opinion then this film you probably won’t like either. He is far superior in a supporting role than a lead. His next starring role will be in the film Stranger than Fiction. This looks like it may be very good, so fingers crossed I may be able to name two movies of his where he stars that I like.

4 Days

That’s how long it took me to get through all 22 episodes of Prison Break. Holy Shit, what an amazing show! Just like a good book I couldn’t put it down. I would have gotten through it even sooner but unforeseen circumstances like being sick on Tuesday and being called into work last night prevented that. Still four days is pretty impressive. I can’t wait till the next season. Normally in this case I will watch the season premiere and then I will wait till it all comes out on DVD.

Concert Time

It's that time of year when some good concerts are coming up. First off in the next couple of weeks Tool will be playing Vancouver. As far as I know there are still tickets left but I'm not sure if I will go or not. I think I’ll make it one of those last minute decisions. Then it may be my time to see two classic bands from Rock n Roll. On Oct 8th The Who are in Vancouver. Right now I could buy some pretty good tickets for $200. It would sort of be like where I sat for Audioslave and NIN, but since only myself knows exactly where that was its pretty useless information. Although getting seats there would be pretty cool. Then The Rolling Stones will be planning Van. Tickets haven’t gone on sale yet but when they do I bet it will be fairy difficult to get. Then if I do obtain a ticket the Stones will probably look more like ants from where I would be sitting. The one thing that really pisses me off though is I’m going to miss out on seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Tickets went on sale 2 weeks before I came back from Europe without me knowing. Then when I came back they were all sold out. Well there is always a chance of winning a pair off a radio contest or buying one off a scalper. Whatever the reason I will most likely head out that way for a few days before the end of the year. At least I could spend time with the Grandparents. I should also look into whats playing in Edmonton. Then I could see my brother and friend plus a concert.

Johnny Goes to Court

John Lydon AKA Johnny Rotten the lead singer for The Sex Pistols appearing on Judge Judy as the defendant back in 1998. If you don't want to waist your time I'll tell you that Judy Like Johnny.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Prison Break

I'm taking a break from watching it to express how much I love this show. I wanted to watch this show even before it aired. Then when it aired I taped the first two episodes. The pilot was directed by Brett Ratner, who serves as executive producer on the show. From those first two episodes I was hooked. But what I do now with any TV show that I like is just buy them on DVD. Why take an entire TV season to watch a show with commercials, and every episode leaving on a cliffhanger? So I’ve been waiting since yesterday to finally be able to watch the show. My younger brother on the other hand taped and watched each episode when they aired. The show even went on a mid season break of like 4 months so he was stuck on a huge cliffhanger for that long. It’s only day two and I’m 7 episodes in out of 22. Each one just keeps getting better. I think I like this show even more than Lost. Then on September 5th I can finally watch the new season of Lost. I got my family hooked on that show and they ended up watching the entire 2nd season, so that made it very difficult not to find out new stuff. Then on the 12th I can finally see Smallville season 5. Yippy!

Video Premiere

First off is the video for Evanescence's new single Call Me When Your Sober. This women only gets hotter in my eyes. That my type of women right there. Their new album is called The Open Door and it will be released on Oct 3rd. Their concert in Kelowna was probably one of my favorites mainly b/c I was in the front row. At one point Amy Lee threw a hat into the crowd. I jumped up and caught it but on the way down three little 14 or 15 yr olds took hold of it and a tug of war ensued. It was my index, middle, and ring finger on my right hand vs. the strength of these little pain in the asses. It was quite fun taking them on. It felt like my fingers were going to be broken in defending it so I gave it up. It seemed really pathetic taking then on for a stupid hat which I think was thrown on stage in the first place. It was quite funny though b/c I was winning. If they were all friends the funny part of the fight would have come when they decide who got to keep it.

The next new video is for Audioslave's single Original Fire. It is from their new album Revelations which will hit stores Sept 5th. I'm not a huge fan of the song upon first listen. Maybe thats a good thing and it will grow on me. Usually the songs I end up liking the most are ones that grow on me.

The Descent

So last night I watched The Descent again and from the comfort of my own home. I know what you thinking; how can that be, it only came out on Fri and I have already seen it twice. Well this is a UK horror film that came out in Europe back in July of last year. Which means about 6 months or so later they already had the film on DVD. I first heard about this film around the beginning of the year and found that a DVD quality version was already available to download. It was also around this time I got a program that would finally allow me to be able to use my DVD burner. So back in February I already had the film on DVD knowing that it wouldn't be in theatres until August. Here a link to my original post on the film back in Feb.

If you don't know shit about the film I can sum it up in one sentence. A bunch of women go on a caving expedition where shit happens and then the characters are pursued by the creatures within. The first time I saw it I wasn't sure whether I liked it or not. It was one of those films I had to let gestate for a bit. After thinking about it I decided that it was very good. After watching it a second time it confirms that it was a really good horror film. Thinking about it now I don't know why I was left pondering if I liked it or not?

Interestingly the US version has a different ending from the UK. Personally I think the best ending is the UK's. I've only seen the UK's end but it not hard to know the US ending b/c all they do is drop off a certain part from the UK. I think the US ending would leave people asking them self "What?" while the UK end is more of a type of ending that John Carpenter would have used like in The Thing and They Live. If you have seen the film you can see the original and superior ending over at YouTube.

While I'm taking about the film I going to bring up the director's first film again Dog soldiers. I think I've mentioned it like three time since I started blogging but I feel like bringing it up again. I would say that it is probably one of, if not the best werewolf film around. I talked about it the most back in a post I did on good werewolf movies that you could go back and read here. If your a fan of werewolf films and haven't seen this film it is a must.
Poster List

Here's a list of posters I want Dylan. Some of them I don't even know if you have yet or ever got. I'm thinking about heading up there sometime in Sept so I can pick them up then. Also be on the look out for the new Cult Classic figures for me. I think they are out now. I'm looking for the Plaid Zombie from 'Dawn' and the Shaun of the Dead one. You don't have to get them just let me know if there out yet so I could drive to Kelowna to pick them up.

Fun Week

WHOOOOHOOOOO!! My friends are planning fun week. I'm always the person planning it but this time me friend beat me to it. Of course he only beat me by planning it a few days ahead of me b/c I was going to set something up soon. I guess I better explain what fun week is. Technically it's not a week of fun, although sometimes it can be. It usually involves doing something fun and exciting that me and my friends have never done before. This all started back in 02 when I had the idea to do something each year that I had never done before. I think the very first thing was making a huge financial investment by buying my first car. Then it was growing my hair out. After that I started to get my friends involved. It also started out as one thing a year but evolved into about two or more things. Last year I believe it was going white water rafting, SeaDooing and seeing 5 concerts in a month. We were also going to go parasailing but the weather wasn't permitting the day we went. My big thing for this year was going to Europe. I therefore could skip out doing anything else this year b/c I did my one big thing, but where's the fun in that? My friend is planning another White Water Rafting trip a week from Sunday but unfortunately I'm stuck working. This time it was going to be the full day trip instead of the 3 or so hours we did the first time. He also wants to go SeaDooing again so we're going to set that up for the 16th. I was going to make a Kelowna trip this Thursday so I guess I could postpone it a few more days. If the weather is permitting I'll probably also swing by the parasailing place. One of the very first things I had originally planned back in 02 was going skydiving, but I was unable to get everyone together to be able to do it. I think I may set that up for the big thing to do in 07. Other items on my list of eventual things to do are visit someplace tropical, go snorkeling, learn to scubadive and swim with dolphins. I'm considering going someplace tropical this winter so maybe I'll be able to get some of those things done.

Sweet!

Today I received another Amazon order. It feels like Christmas every time I get one. Here's a list of things I got this time if your interested.

The Wanderers (One of my three favorite gang fight movies along with The Warriors and Deuces Wild)
Three O'Clock High (Great high school comedy of the 80's)
Hamlet 2000 (To my knowledge it used to be referred to as Hamlet 2000 but I think they dropped it from the title now. I love this modern take on it.)
Cemetery Man (A zombie film I've never seen before, but supposedly is really good.)
Buffalo Soldiers (Great Dark Comedy set during war time)
Green Street Hooligans (An import from the States b/c it wasn't released here in Canada.)
The Hills Have Eyes (The original 77' classic 2disc set)
Southland Tales Book 1 (I should have just bought all three books)

Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny

This film is going to kick ass. Check out the trailer here.
Mercy Reef

This is the Aquaman TV show that is no more. The guys who brought us Smallville were going to make a series based on Aquaman that would be sort of like Smallville. They shot the pilot but unfortunately the show wasn't picked up. I don't know why it wasn't picked up b/c the pilot was actually pretty good. Any fans of Smallville would have loved this show. They placed the pilot up on itunes and it became the top downloaded video. Of course I went the illegal route, oh wait it's not illegal in Canada. Suckers! The pilot was good and I think it would have made for a pretty cool show. They even had two top actors in the show, Lou Diamond Phillips and Ving Rhames. Maybe sometime in the near future we may get another chance to see a series. You can check out a fan site dedicated to the show at aquamantv.
DVD Easter Eggs

One thing I love about DVDs are the hidden features that are know in the business as Easter eggs. The most recent one being on the 2 disc version of V for Vendetta. In this case however the box says that there is a hidden feature. Most of the time they don't let you know that there is one. Some can be very hard to find while others can be very easy. The hidden feature on V is the SNL Natalie Portman rap. On the second disc go to the second page of features and hit up on the remote which will highlight a secret area. For those who don't have the DVD you can see the SNL rap here. If you curious as to whether any of your DVD's have special features that you don't know about you can check a database here.
