The Real Ghostbusters.

Yeah, today the old ghostbuster cartoons that I loved as a kid came out on DVD. Unfortunately, they didn't come out in seasons. They released three themed sets at $10 a piece with only 4 episodes a disc. What I found funny is that the fourth episode on all the discs say that it is a bonus episode. What crap is that? Like I'm suppose to feel lucky that they threw in a fourth episode. BASTARDS! Again I had one of thoughs thrill of the hunt expeditions. The only place in town that had then were Play! Entertainment in the mall. Not at Future Shop, not at Walmart, some small place that you would never think to look. But that's what makes it really fun for me. Dam, I'm easy to please.

Also bought The Ice Harvest, Pride and Prejudice, and finally got around to buying the 13th Warrior. An interesting bit of info that I found from watching P&P special features is that Bridget Jones's Diary was loosely based on P&P. I didn't know that. When I saw Bridget Jones's Diary I never really knew anything about P&P, so now I'm curious to watch this film just so I can see how loosely based it really is. Also Clueless was an updated version of Jane Austins Emma. Since I have really enjoyed P&P I now want to see Jane Austins other films Sense and Sensibility and Emma

Strangely I've felt really weird for the last two days. I've felt really groggy as if I have been drugged. But I haven't taken any pills since like fri. I guess I need to get some rest or take a Fukitol.

Strikes For Tykes

Today I played 5 pin bowling with the staff of Rivers and Cactus Jacks for strikes for tykes. I've always wanted to play for this charity and now I can say I have. Between Rivers and Cactus Jacks we donated $1000.

Now time for my rant on bowling. Basically it goes like this 5pin sucks ass and 10pin rules. I was first introduced to 5 pin as a kid and was really good. Then I found out about 10pin and wanted to try that. But there never was any 10 pin places around where I lived until kamloops finally got one. Once I tried 10pin I was hooked and even better at it than 5pin. As a teen I was in the local 10pin bowling league and each year I got better and better at. My highest game was 235. I could even bowl with a professional curve like they do on TV. Even though I could do this I was much better bowling my way. I have an unusual way of bowling. I'm right handed so your suppose to have a finish slide on your left foot. I have a finish slide with my right foot. Which I believe is why I can bowl a perfect straight ball down the lane.

What pissed me off is that the owners of the 10pin moved to Calgary and no one wanted to buy the place from them so it closed down. I felt that if they stayed around I could possibly even have gone pro, but I guess I'll never know. I have to travel to kelowna just so I can play. Every time I go I can see my game still getting better.

Since we have two 5pin in town and no 10pin I became curious as to the history of 5pin. You know what I found out? It was created by a Canadian around 1900. He created it because he found 10pin to strenuous with the weight of the ball so he made a game with a smaller ball and less pins. When I discovered this I could say that it was one time I was ashamed to be a Canadian. LOL.
Happy Happy Joy Joy

I feel really happy right now and I can't explain it! Oh well. If your stressed out and not feeling as good as me them try taking a few swings at the penguin. Just click on the Yeti.

Resume

So there is only two weekends left before Rivers is no more. Of course I knew this over a year ago b/c the hotel only gave then a lease till the end of February. At least now at the hotel we won't have to deal with any noise complaints from the bar. The Rivers owner has now purchased the sports bar Rota's and will be turning that place into a daytime pub and a nighttime club called the Thirty Dog. So all the staff from both Rota's and Rivers are being laid off and they have to reaply for their jobs. Personally I really don't care if they hire me back. If they do great if not who cares. I had planed just to work at the hotel for the summer, but I figured I may as well reaply b/c it is good second income for what it is. If they don't want me back them at least I will have my weekends back. And if they do hire me I only plan to work till Sept b/c after that I will most likely be moving from Kamloops to go start a life somewhere either putting my degree to use or more schooling.

To reaply they just wanted a resume, so I had to go find my old resume from high school and dust it off as it were and update it. The funny thing is I've done so many different jobs for the hotel over the last 5 or 6 years that I really didn't feel like putting the time into making my resume all polished. I figured what's really the point; at least for this time, when the owner will just most likely see the name on the resume and just decided if he wants me to continue at the new place or not. I will definitely have to polish my resume sometime this summer though.
I've Done It....

One of my Fav Quote's

"God is just an imaginary friend for grown ups" Walter Crewes (Morgan Freeman) in the Big Bounce
Belt Buckles

Since the middle of last summer I have really gotten into collecting belt buckles. And not just plain buckles but ones for rock bands. Currently I have 6 band buckles including The Clash, AC/DC, Velvet Revolver, Guns and Roses, Sex Pistols, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I normally don't wear my shirts tucked in but since I have been wearing my buckles I have gotten into tucking my shirts in so I can show them off.
Now I just found on the Hot Topic website two new buckles that I really want. There is one for A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. I really want to buy stuff from stores in the states but I know that I will end up having to pay a shit load for boarder fees. I guess I might just have to plan a trip to Seattle or Bellingham soon.
Couldn't Sleep Last Night

I had a horrible time getting sleep last night. Normally when I go to bed I end up laying there for up to an hour. Which I really enjoy, just laying in my bed feeling really comfortable. Some times I listen to some mellow music and other times I just let the brain whine down thinking of some nice things. Last night though I just couldn't shut off my brain. I was just laying there for like 3 hours thinking about everything and anything wonderful and bad. It really wasn't until 5:30 or 6 in the morning that I finally fell asleep. Also adding to my restless night was I still have this terrible cold and it is really hard to breath at night even after taking a bunch of meds. So like every two hours or so of sleep I would endup waking up and then try to start breathing properly before I could go back to sleep. Also I was drunk before going to bed and whenever I have alcohol in me I end up with really abstract wired dreams.
Canadian Bands

Just got back from seeing The Trews. And I have a really nice little buzz from the rum and cokes as well and probably the cold medication before I went out. Yah these guys kick ass. They have this one song that's basically about a guy who has gotten dumped and he is at a bar drinking the pain away. I guess that's what it is bascially about. I love this song its the one song I really wanted to hear. It was really cool to sing along with them. Unfortunately for them it wasn't as packed as I thought it would be but it definitely had more people than when they played at CJs last year. What was really cool was that in the middle of some of their songs they would perfectly blend into bits of cover songs. The cover songs they did included System of a Down's BYOB ( which I thought was really cool), Queen's Fat bottom Girls, The Rolling Stones' You cant always get what you want, Quiet Riot's COme on feel the noise, and Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll. I was standing next to the entrance to the back stage and during one of the opening acts the drummer for The Trews was standing next to me. What is funny is that I wasn't sure it was him. I was wearing a shirt that had his picture so I was looking at it to see if it really was him. Even then I wasn't sure because he had shaved his head and the pic was when he had hair. I was only sure when I saw him on stage. I was even The Trews bouncer for like two minutes. The bouncer I knew guarding the entrance to back stage had to use the bathroom so he asked me to pretend to be a bouncer while he was gone.

What really pissed me off was that I forgot to bring my digital camera. It would have been nice to get some pics of the concert. My friend had his phone with a camera but he doesn't have the cable to transfer the pics to his computer. God damit Shit adI&^%%(&^Y&*YHKJNgjanre.

On a side note I just starting getting into this new Canadian Group know as Neverending White Lights. What is really cool about this group is that it is like one guy who plays all the instruments on the CD and he got vocalists from numerous bands to perform the leads. The vocalists include the lead singers from The Watchmen, Our Lady Peace, 311, Finger Eleven, Age of Electric and Alexisonfire. I would describe the music as really mellow, sort of along the lines of Coldplay and Radiohead. I just started listening to the album but I really love the song This Longing which has the Lead vocalists of the Watchmen. I would say that The Wathmen is probably my favorite Canadian Band, so it is great to hear his voice on something new. The other song I really like is The Grace with the lead of Alexisonfire. What I really love about this song is that I feel like I have heard it before in some movie, but I don't think it has ever been in a movie. I look forward to really just sitting down and listening to this album.

Theory Of 1985

Here it is, finally for the whole world to hear my theory of 1985. I warn you to take the things I say with a grain of salt. Simply, the theory is the people who were born in 1985 and on are complete idiots, brainless, dense, doltish, dopey, dull, dumb, fatuous, half-witted, mindless, oafish, obtuse, senseless, simple, slow, thick, thickheaded, unintelligent, vacuous, weak-minded, and witless. Now I'm not saying that everyone born in the year 85 and onward are idiots, I'm just saying that most of you are. I first came up with this theory back when I was in grade 12 which would have placed these people born in 85 in grade 9. Maybe having a younger brother who just so happened to be born in 85 has something to do with this theory.

Wandering around the school as a senior I just witnessed all this dumb things that these kids would do. Although right now I really can't remember anything. Also I was a TA in a Drama 8 class and just witnessing the way these kids were acting and the lack of respect that they showed for authority. One specific memory is the way the girls were dressing in grade 9. They would dress like absolute whores. In a comedic monologue with dramatic undertones that I did for my graduation celebration I questioned the way the youth were dressing today and said "they were dressing in a way that would make the women on Victoria Street jealous" ( for those of you not from Kamloops this is close to where you can find the local hookers). Many of the girls from grade 9 them confronted me and where pissed off that I was calling them whores, but technically I never said that. But there were a handful of the girls from that grade who did support what I said. What was really funny is that at the party afterwards most of the teachers came to thank me for some of the things I said, especially about their dress because they really wanted to say those things.

I did think that maybe because they were really just kids at the time that maybe that's just how everyone views people in those grades. Its true that we go through a maturing process as we age. I wouldn't be surprised if people born before me thought the same about my age group. But I still hold on to this theory. Why? Because I still see the people who are now in their early twenties and they are still acting like complete idiots. Case in point, I have a friend who works at a movie theater and all the time he complaining about how dumb the people he works with are. And they are all the people who are younger than us. I have even witnessed some of this stupidity when I watch some of the staff showing with them. I keep telling him that it is the theory of 85. Which he absolutely agrees with me. So I know I have the support of at least one person. Also whenever I'm in Edmonton I see a shit load of Now Hiring signs. My brother who manages a theater is always hiring because the people he does hire ranging from say 17 to 21 turn out to be really bad workers. I say that its the theory of 85 that has lead to the increase in available jobs in Edmonton.

At one point I even thought about continuing in Psychology by getting a masters and Ph.D and I would have wanted to make this theory part of my masters thesis and see if I could actually prove this in some scientific way. Well I guess I have rambled on enough about my theory for now.

The Trews

Tomorrow night I get to see the Trews for the fourth time. It is the most I have ever seen any band, coming in second is Matthew Good. The first time I saw them is when they opended up for Seether and Evanescence in Kelowna. At that time I had never really heard of then and sort of knew one of their songs. After seeing then I was blown away. They were a really energetic band with some really catchy songs.

The second time I got to see then was when they came to Kamloops. They were playing at CJ's, and originally I wasn't even on planning to go, even though I had free tickets from the owner. My brother was going, so at the last minute I decided to join him. Since he had moved away from home I don't get to hang out with him a lot so I felt it would be fun to go with him. The place was pretty much dead but it retrospect it was pretty cool seeing them in this small club. Once again they showed this great energy while playing. Also the main guitarist was doing all this cool shit, like playing behind his head. After this concert I was hooked.

Then their second CD was released and I bought that the day it came out. After a few listens I was hooked. There is especially two song that I love to sing while I'm in the car. The third time I got to see them open for Robert Plant in Edmonton. Amusing to me is that when I went to buy concert tees I was the first person to actually buy a Trews shirt. At least according to the merchant. Two days latter they were going to play Kamloops, and if I still wasn't in Edmonton I would have seen them again. But I just had to stay in so I could see System of a Down.

Now they are coming back again for the second time in like 6 months. Once again I have free tickets from the owner. Now how cool is that? I figure that they will soon break really big and start playing much bigger shows such as Nickelback and Our Lady Peace. And I will cherish having seem then in such a smaller setting.

Shitty Day of Work

Today sucked. Two days a week I fill in for our maintenance guy at the hotel. I usually spend about 2 to 3 hours fixing shit and mainly looking after the pool then I go home. Only putting in a few hours is nice especially after working all weekend at Rivers. Unfortunately things went all wrong today. I wake up with a cold, so already I know my day is going to suck ass. Then I go to work, do my regular duties and clean the pool. After cleaning the pool I have to refill the dam thing which takes about 30 minutes. In the meantime I go to finish a few things and when the pool is done filling I was set to go home. I was really looking forward to going back to bed and resting. When I go to shut the water off to the pool I discover that a shit load of dirt is all over the floor of the pool. Some moron at a construction site nearby broke a fucking pipe so all the water pumping to the pool was also pumping in dirt. I ended up spending the next 5 fucking hours trying to suck all the dirt out of the pool. After about 4 hours the vacuum fucking broke on me and then I spent the next hour trying to fix it. I eventually said fuck it and went home. Most of the dirt was removed and I figure our main maintenance guy can do the rest tomorrow.

Quote of the Night

"Everybody is good looking to someone". Me
Some Dude Grabbed me Arse....

And not in the 'good game' way. A perk of working at a night club is that women will occasional grab my ass as I walk by, especially when I'm carrying a tray of glasses above my head. They also will hit on me, but that's another story morning glory. Last night unfortunately as I'm walking by one of the pool tables with a tray of glasses above my head I felt this hand on my ass. As I turn around to give the lady a smile, all I see is this really fat slob staring back at me. Realizing that it wasn't the women who was standing next to him, I gave him this look of absolute disgust. If it wasn't for my hands begin full, I probably would have clocked the guy. Thankfully though, latter in the night a really hot girl did grab my ass, so at least I ended the night with a pleasant moment.

Lloyd Dobler

I came across this wonderful article on the character Lloyd Dobler played by John Cusack in the film 'Say Anything..'. It is mainly about how women are in love with this character and how they are looking for this type of man to have in their lives. The guy in high school that no woman wanted but ultimately now the kind of man they want to marry. I would probably say that Say Anything is my most favorite romantic comedy. I saw the film at a very early age and thought Cusacks character was really cool. I've strived to be just that, a type of Lloyd Dobler. The films soundtrack is also very cool with 2 of my most favorite mellow and romantic songs: Peter Gabriel- In your eyes and The Repalcements- Within Your Reach. If this is the type of man women are looking for then at least I'm sitting pretty. And to the women who are looking for this type of man, they are out there. Although I would say they are few. Sometimes they are hard to find but you just have to look in the right places.

"She's gone. She gave me a pen. I gave her my heart, she gave me a pen." Lloyd Dobler.

V-Day

Happy V-Day. A day that can be happy one year and miserable the next. I felt like I had to post at least something on V-Day so I remembered a bunch of funny pick up lines that were sent to me a while back that I guess will do the trick.

1. I wish you were a door so I could slam you all day.
2. Nice legs....what time do they open.
3. Do you work for Purolator? I thought I saw you checking out my package.
4. You've got 206 bones in your body...want one more?
5. Can I buy you a drink or do you just want the money?
6. I may not be the best looking guy in here, but I'm the only one talking to you.
7. I'm a bird watcher and I'm looking for a Big Breasted Bed Thrasher. Have you seen one?
8. I'm fighting the urge to make you the happiest women on earth tonight.
9. Wanna play army? I'll lay down and you can blow the hell outta me.
10. I wish you were a Pony Carousel outside Superdrug, so I could ride you all day long for a quarter.
11. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought that was a braille name tag.
12. I'd really like to see how you look when I'm naked.
13. Is that a ladder in your stockings or the stairway to heaven?
14. You might not be the best looking girl here, but beauty is only a light switch away.
15. Are those real?
16. You must be the limp doctor because I've got a stiffy.
17. I'd walk a million miles for one of your smiles, and even farther for >that thing that you do with your tongue.
18. If it's true that we are what we eat, then I could be you by morning.
19. (Look down at your crotch) Well, it's not just going to suck itself.
20. You know, if I were you, I'd have sex with me.
21. You. Me. Whipped cream. Handcuffs. Any questions?
22. Shag me if I'm wrong, but is your name Helga Titsbottom?
23. Those clothes would look great in a crumpled heap on my bedroom floor.
24. My name is (name)...remember that, you'll be screaming it later.
25. Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?
26. Hi I'm Mr. Right. Someone said you were looking for me.
27. My friend wants to know if you think I'm cute.
28. Hi. The voices in my head told me to come over and talk to you.
29. My name is Elmo, but you can tickle me anytime you want to.
30. I know milk does a body good, but damn, how much have you been drinking?
31. If you were the last woman and I was the last man on earth, I bet we could have sex in public.
32. Wanna come over for some pizza and sex?...No?...Why? Don't you like pizza?
33. Baby, I'm an American Express lover...you shouldn't go home without me.
34. Do you sleep on your stomach? Can I?
35. Do you wash you pants in Windex? Because I can see myself in them.
36. I lost my puppy; can you help me find him? I think he went into this cheap motel room.
37. (Lick finger and wipe on her shirt) Let's get you out of these wet clothes.

Spelling

My spelling and grammar have become a lot worse. I've been out of college for almost a whole year now and haven't really had to write anything, then I started my blog and realized how bad things have gotten. Especially when I go back and read old posts. You would think that after constantly practicing by writing essays for years that one year off wouldn't make a difference. True, my spelling and grammar have never been the best but dam.

So, to all of those who actually read and put up with the horrible spelling and grammar I'm sorry and thank you.

I just noticed that by doing spell check that the word 'blog' comes up as spelled wrong, you would think that in the spell check for a blog, blog wouldn't come up as spelled wrong.

DVD Screener Copies

Thanks to the wonderful world of the internet and the freedom of Canada I'm able to download and burn movies that aren't released in kamloops, and that have already hit DVD in Europe and have yet to be released in North America. Yes, I feel guilty for doing it (sort of) but it is all justified when I end up spending the cash to buy then on DVD when they are released. Here are some of the rare movies that I have been able to see.

London
I saw the trailer for this one day with the release date Feb 10th (limited) and by the next day I was watching this film on DVD. This film was really very cool and funny, it stars Chris Evans, Jessica Biel, and Jason Statham. It a story about trying to win back your ex-girlfriend (Hmmm, maybe that's why I like it, LOL), while drinking and doing drugs in the process. I would compare the dialogue in this to Closer.

A Sound of Thunder
To memory this was suppose to be a big movie for last summer, but had a very limited release b/c people thought it was absolute Shiite. With a buget of around 52 mil, it made around 2 mil. I on the otherhand think that this movie was quite good. Its about hunting in the past, and as a result a chain reaction alters the future. It is based on a story by Ray Bradbury, and directed by Peter Hyams and stars Edward Burns. True, the effects were absolutely lame, but that really didn't take away from the film for me. If they spent the time and money on the effects this would have been a very profitable movie I think.

Green Street Hooligans
One of two post Lord of the rings movies for Elijah Wood that I really wanted to see ( the other being Everything is Illuminated, which I will watch in the next 2 days). Wood moves to London where he is introduced to the world of football (Soccer for you Americans) hooligans. For some reason I love watching films that involve different gangs beating the shit out of each other. Other such films include The Warriors, The Wanderers, and Deuces Wild. Yet again another movie that kicked ass.

Nightwatch
A Russian Film about the forces of Light Vs. the Forces of the Dark, where the Dark roam the world as Vampires. Based on a graphic novel I believe. And is the first part to a the trilogy. The film has effects that can be compared to The Matrix. Thus if you want to see a Vampire Matrix type movie then this is the one to see. Unfortunately having to read subtiles took away from seeing and enjoying a lot that was happening. Also it made it easy to get lost in what was happening. But all in all was an enoyable film and I'm looking forward to the next 2 in the series.

Revolver
The new film from Guy Ritchie staring Jason Statham. That should say enough to spark anyones interest. After watching the film I left with this feeling of what the hell did I just watch and not in some bad way either. You try to figure out just what the hell is happening through the whole movie in a Vanilla Sky, Memento, Donnie Darko type of way. I was on the edge of my seat wanting to see what would happen next. You really have to pay attention to this film, and by the end you end up philosophizing about watch you saw. Thus it was a cool, weird film.

The Descent
A new horror film from the guy who did Dog Soilders, about a caving expedition where shit happens and then the characters are pursued by the creatures within. What I find cool is that this will not be released until August and I have already seen it. After watching the film I didn't really know wether I liked it or not but upon further thought I would say yes that is was very good.

Quote of the Night

"The trouble will being punctual is that no one is around to appreciate it." This usually describes me and the people I know.
A Real Transformer

My friend emailed me is video of an actual working transformer that was pretty cool.
Poster Fair

Woo Hoo, the poster fair is back at the college. Every year for the last 8 years that I remember the poster fair has come to TRU. Now, as a huge poster collector I look forward to going every year. True, they are only reprints but I really don't care. I just like to display the posters of many of my favorite films. In previous years, I've bought posters for Donnie Darko, Army of Darkness, Mallrats, Memento, Ghostbusters, High Fidelity, The last picture of James Dean every taken, and huge James Dean poster with the quote "Dream as if you Live Forever, Live as if you'll die today".

The one thing that I hate is that they have a sheet where you can suggest posters that they should carry. For the last 5 years I have requested the poster for Dawn of the Dead, and every year I end up disappointed and pissed off. You think they would eventually get it. Those bastards. Thankfully I found a copy to buy last Halloween at a Spencers Gift in Vancouver.

Funny and Cool thing that I saw today, I women on a skateboard was pushing here kid around in their stroller. Now I seen a mother on a rollerblades pushing their kid, but a skateboard is new to me.

Ultraviolet

A week or so ago I start seeing trailers for the new film Ultraviolet staring Milla Jovovich. When you see the trailer the first thing that comes to mind is that this is going to be another crappy Aeon Flux type film. Yes, its true I was one who didn't really like Aeon Flux but I think I enjoyed the last bit of the film once I knew just what the hell had been happening. Knowing what I know maybe when watching the film again maybe I will like it better. Then I saw that Ulraviolet is written and directed by Kurt Wimmer. This is the same guy who did Equalibrium, which is a great Sci Fi movie that came out in 2002. I would say that it is one of the better Sci fi movies in the last few years, and I think that it was better than the Matrix. Now I look forward to seeing what this guy has done with Ultraviolet. I love how my opinion can change so quickly.

Also the trailer has another song that I have come to like called 24 by Jem. Another recent movie song that I like is The Undertaker by Puscifier on the Underworld Evolution soundtrack. Puscifier is headed by the same lead singer of Tool and A Perfect Circle.
