NyQuil, NyQuil, NyQuil, we love you, you gaint fucking Q

I don't do drugs and I never have, except for over-the-counter cold medications. Personally I think doing drugs is stupid. Why would anyone what to purposely harm themselves by doing drugs. The closest I have ever been to illegal drugs is being in the same room as a friend who was smoking pot, and of course any rock concert I have been to.

So why my drug rant, b/c NyQuil is very good. I had a sinus cold just the other night so I took me some NyQuil. Now when I take NyQuil, I always over do it. It says take two pills every 6 or so hours, so I take 3. That way I know it is working. Then after about 3 hours or so you feel this great rush of euphoria. What a great word eu-phor-ia. You feel like you are floating in your body, and when you feel sick this just what you need.

That is the only time I support drugs, when they are used for medication and not recreation. I would like to experience the affects of illegal drugs, just to know what it feels like, but right now I feel proud to say I have never done drugs. Thus when I'm around 80 I figure I will do my drug binge, try pot, cocaine, heroine, E. Probably kill myself in the process but by that time who gives a shit.
Good Werewolf Movies

With Dog soldiers playing on TV this past weekend and with the new Underworld movie I though I would compile a list of some good werewolf films.

Dog soldiers
First saw this in the new release section with the hook quote of Jaws, Aliens and Predator with a werewolf twist. The story involves a special forces team that goes on a training exercise against another special forces team only to discover that the other team has been killed by a pack of werewolves. Now how cool does that sound, Special Forces VS. a bunch of fucking werewolves. One of the better werewolf films in the last few years. What I really like about this werewolf film is that the wolves finally were only on two legs. It seems like most werewolf films I saw had them on all fours in recent years. Also the effects were all practical none of this CG bullshit. Not to completely dis CG but a man in a suit or animatronics look better than a CG wolf.

American Werewolf in London
For some reason I feel like I should like this movie more than I really do. It has many things going for it but there is something missing from the story that makes me absolutely love it. The best part has to be Rick Baker's wolf transformation, this guy knows his shit. But personally when I think of a werewolf I see then as standing on two legs not all fours, this is maybe why it loses points with me. Then you have John Landis directing who directed some of the best comedies of the 80's. So it was a good wolf film with some pretty funny black humor.

American Werewolf in Paris
Personally I liked this sequel better than London. It was funny and at least I thought it was a good story. The shitty part was that the wolves were all CG and were pretty fucking lame. The Bush song MOUTH (The Stingray mix) was a pretty good song from the film.

Cursed
When I heard that Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson were making a werewolf movie I was really psyched but when I heard that it was going to be cut down to a PG-13 rating I was pissed off. Thankfully their was the Unrated DVD. Also I remember hearing something like they were having problems with the script while shooting, and many things changed. But when I saw the film both rated and unrated I really liked then both, although some people would say it is shit.

Ginger Snaps
I love the plot description on IMDB "werewolfism as a metaphor for puberty". For the only time that comes to mind a movie about a female werewolf. Great independent horror film. And what can I say Katharine Isabelle is absolutely hot. Good effects, good story. However, the two sequels sucked ass in my opinion.

The Howling
I really fucking hated this film when I saw it as a kid, but it has sort of grown on me over the years. Dee Wallace's character goes to a rehabilitation center whose inhabitants are werewolfs. The last half is definitely the best part of the film. The beginning was okay, and the middle had its moments but I think it needed more. Again, good wolf effects, Why? b/c it was before CG. I actually sat through all the sequels, I'm not sure why b/c they really, really sucked.

Teen Wolf/Teen Wolf two
A werewolf film that isn't a horror film, but a comedy about you guested it a teen wolf. Where a teens wolfism helps him excel at sports. I really enjoyed both films. One of those films that I really liked as a child and still do. It would have been really cool to be a werewolf in high school, but all that hair would have been a nightmare. Both films had some pretty good songs, such as Oingo Boingo's -Outrageous.

Silver Bullet
Stephen King's novella based Werewolf film. It involves murders in a small town, where a handicapped kid (with a really cool wheelchair) believes the culprit is a werewolf. I've never actually read his book but supossedly it is completely different from the film. I would probably say that this is my favorite werewolf film. It was one of Corey Haim first films and Gary Busey plays his uncle. The wolf effects are somewhat campy but the awesome blood and gore make up for it. If you have seen the film, it would have been cool to have the wheel chair. Since I'm in no way religious it has some moments that make me laugh when I think how stupid religion can be.

Monster Squad
One of my favorite films as a kid. A group of kids vs the Classic Univeral Monsters. Very funny and entertaining movie. Writen by one of the coolest person to write screenplays, Shane Black just one of the people who pioneered the action genre. I think it has by far the coolest looking werewolf on film. Thats b/c it done by Stan Winston. This is one film I really want on DVD, but in the mean time I will sufice with the version that I tanfered from VHS to DVD (God bless the DVD recorder).

Wolf
Fairly decent wolf film. Hell it's Nicholson as a werewolf, now if you want a bad ass wolf you picked the right guy. The creature effects are again wonderfully done Rick Baker.

Is it strange that at random Ozzy Osbourne's Bark at the Moon came on as I was writing.

Morbid Curiosity

During last summer one of the people I work with told me about a site called Find a Death, where they have articles on famous people who have died. In the articles you can view celebrity death certificates, find out how they died, view their tombstone and find out a little bit about the celeb. What is morbidly fascinating is that in some cases they even have pictures of celeb dead bodies. One the saddest and sickest pics where of Chris Farley dead body. For thoses who are interested in viewing some of these pics be warmed that they may be do disturbing for some.

So am I a sick person for viewing some of these pics? I don't think so. I think most people have a little bit of morbid curisosity in them. It certainly would explain why some people would slow down at the site of an accident.

I myself have a somewhat morbid sense of art. When I go to Europe in April one thing that I really want to do is get grave rubbing of famous people such as Jim Morrison and Shakespeare then have then framed on my walls.

Drew Barrymore

Well supposedly at the Golden Globes Drew Barrymore wore a green dress without wearing a bra and you could see her breasts. Well the truth is that you see the shape of her ample breasts. So what's the big deal? Whooped do! Hell, any you can see the shape of any women breasts in most clothes they wear. In doing some research the big thing I'm finding (No pun intended) is that people are complaining that she has let herself go, they claim her breasts are sagging and that she needs a boobs lift. Personally I thought she was looking good. That's what I hate about Hollywood is that if a women does not fit a certain body type they are criticised for it. Peoples bodies change all the time, its a natural part of life. And when someone in the spotlight is
criticised for it what do you think it does for a regular persons self esteem? Don't make fun of the female body people it is wrong. At least Drew had a sense of humor about the whole thing on SNL, wearing huge fake sagging breasts. That's why I'm glad their is those new Dove commercials that show natural women with all their tiny imperfections. I find those women really hot.

Gay Marriage

I support gay marriage. Those who disagree and say that marriage is a sacred union between a Man and a Woman are just ignorant. Marriage is a union of two people who LOVE each others.

Is Kamloops a Racist Hick Town?

I think it just might be, here's my theory. Whenever a movie is released that has a cast made up mostly of African Americans Kamloops either doesn't get it or if it does, it gets the film a month after its release and for only a week or two. For instance, Glory Road a film about a coach who led the first all-black starting line-up for a college basketball team to the NCAA national championship, which was released today didn't come to Kamloops. Why? I think that maybe because Kamloops is made up mostly of white people that they assume that we wouldn't want to watch a film about a bunch of black people. Which is a complete load of shit, and if my theory is true then yes Kamloops or at least the people who book the films into the theaters are a bunch of racists.

And its not just this one film that supports my theory. The last major film with a black majority cast was Get Rich or Die Tryin'. Did Kamloops get this one? Not until a month after the release and only for a week. Other movies to my memory that we didn't get were The Brothers, Kings Ransom, Hustle & Flow, The Best Man, Last Hoilday, In the Mix and if I actually wrote down every black movie that came out in the last 5 years I bet most of them never came to town.

So why does this happen? I thought that b/c I lived in Canada and with it vast multiculturalism that things like this wouldn't happen. Is the real reason b/c since this is a small town made mostly of white people that to put a film about black people wouldn't make any money. So there are just looking at it for finacial reasons. But Glory Road and Get Rich should have made lots of money in town. Glory Road is a Jerry Bruckheimer production and Get Rich was about 50 Cent. So does this mean people don't want to see a story about black people. It should be about the story of the film and not the color of the actors skin that should made a person not want to see a film. Or am I just talking out of my ass?

Mundane tasks tend to drain you - you prefer to be making great plans.
You are quite original. When people don't "get" you, it bothers you a lot.

Your strength: Your ability to gain respect

Your weakness: Caring too much what others think

Your power color: Orange-red

Your power symbol: Letter X

Your power month: October
Smallville, Lost, & Prison Break

Three great shows that I like to watch. Ever since Smallville season one was released on DVD, I decided to just wait for each season to be released on DVD them watch it all in a week. Here in lies the problem. I have a pain in the ass little brother who I introduced to Smallville and Lost (both wanted the watch Prison Break), who on the other hand does not like to wait for the DVD. So whenever new episodes air such as last night for Lost and currently for Smallville he likes to sit down and watch them. No big deal right? But what does the little shit go and do, he likes to wreak what is happening. I tell him don't tell me anything, but if I in some way piss him off about something the little prick likes to spill parts of the plot. This has been going on now for the last few years and it is getting harder and harder not to watch episodes when they air. But I hate when they leave a show as a cliffhanger and usually I'm never around when episodes air. So on that note I plan to continue to wait for the DVDs, even though I really want to want to watch Lost right now.

Pride and Prejudice

Just finished watching the 1995 mini series with Colin Firth, and all I can say is wow. This was really amazing. I didn't know if I would like this but I did. I was really sucked into the story by second part. At times I was laughing, hating characters, and then completely changing my opinion of them just as Liz. I had a good time. This would have been a really cool play to do back in high school. Of course I would have liked to play Mr. Darcy, but would have probably ended up playing the father as I did in Little Women. I remember seeing ads for this back in 95 on A&E and thought that it would be really boring. Of course I was really young at the time and wasn't really into watching period films that much. Then with the new movie being released, a few months ago and seeing the reviews on the trailer sparked my interest in the film. Upon investigation I found the series was given a 9.4 out of 10 on IMDB, so I found a copy to download. After having a DVD burner for a couple of years I finally figured out how to use it, and burnt the series to DVD. I also found a screener copy of the new film and I look forward to seeing what they do.

I also just bought Possession and Jennifer Ehle (Elizabeth) is in it. What a weird coinsidence. Now I look forward to watching this again. She was really good in P&P and now that i've seen her in something else it will be interesting to watch her in this.
Great Balls of Fire.

This past weekend at Rivers one of the bartenders lit their balls of fire. Yes, you read right. Where he got the idea I don't know, supposedly he does stupid shit for money. So at the end of the night he took out his balls, soaked them in 151 and with a Bic lighter lit them up. After he put out the flames he starts taking laps around the bar. It was extremely funny. And I can't believe I actually chipped in money. I think he made about $160. There is absolutely no way I would do this myself. I quite attached to my balls, and I would never purposely do anything to hurt them.

Grandma's Boy and Munich

Fucking hilarious Movie. 4.5 out of 5. Linda Cardellini is so hot. Also went to Munich, also very good. More violent than I thought it would be. 4.5 out of 5.

Listening to English to German Tapes are funny. Why? I can't explain. It's not the German translations but what they transfer. How Much for the Week?, How much to rent?. Just insert funny words after the question. Geez, I can find the humor is some pretty stupid shit.

Hostel

Lots of movies I have to see this weekend and I start off with the kick ass Hostel. It gets a 5 out 5. This movie rocks. If your looking for a killer horror flick this is it. Any movie I see that has effects done by the boys at KNB I know that I will not be disappointed. Can't wait for the DVD. And since I plan on going to Europe in April, this movie gave me some good warnings. Note to self avoid Bratislava, beautiful girls that want me, and be nice to little kids.

While you are quiet, you have a subtle wit that your friends know well.

At your worst, you are lazy and unwilling to work at anything.

My Tattoo (Blue Rose)

Here's the picture of my very first tattoo. It's located my on my left forearm. I got it near the end of Oct 2004. I got it done by Sean at Boldersyde Custom Tattooing in Kamloops. I absolutely love this tattoo. So why a blue rose? Well I got it for a few reasons the main one I can't do it justice in words. It is a symbol of something wonderful that I experienced. It reminds me of a period in my life. When people ask I say that it is a symbol of motivation to get things done and to succeed in life. Which has worked up to this point. Another reason I went with it is b/c Slash has a red rose on his left forearm but I thought of my idea before I even knew this. What I find really great about the tattoo is that it means different things depending on my mood, sometimes it something good and other times bad. The rose is a symbol of love so I like having that represented but then again there are no 'real' blue roses in natural so you could view it as love isn't real. I like the duality of it.

I got it on my forearm b/c if I had at least one tattoo I wanted it in an area where I could show it off at all times but if necessary I could hide it. I will probably get my next tattoo in the next two years. I would love to get an entire sleeve done but I think that when I'm older I wouldn't want it. A few ideas I have for my next tattoos are the rising zombie head from the Dawn of the Dead poster on my back or the Crow Ink Blot from the movie poster on my back and across my shoulder blades. Then I was thinking Life, Death, and the Lovers tarot cards on my thighs, a pic of a monkey on my foot (b/c I have monkey feet), the Grim Reaper juggling balls of fire (b/c I taught myself how to juggle) and if I ever get married I think it would be cool to have tattoo rings (but with today's statistics on marriage should I really? But I feel I wouldn't marry a women unless I felt we would be together forever, so who knows). I also thought that getting a bar code on the back of my neck would be cool but I've seem it too many times now

What will never be...

So, there's this women, I first set my eyes on her a few years ago. She was absolutely beautiful, smart, and a had a great sense of fashion. Upon investigation she was involved, which at the time was a huge relief since I didn't want to be with anyone for a long time after my breakup. So that was that, every now and them I would see this beautiful women and her essence would bring a smile to my face. Some time passes in which I had nearly forgotten about this women, then I come across some new info about her. Not only was she quite stunning, we have similar tastes, she like things I like, and seems to be a lot like myself. Its almost as if she were my equal. And if not for my deep fear of rejection I would love to ask this women out. Why not she is single again? Hell, it would be even great just to be friends with this person, but alas I'm too shy to do anything about it (Of course it really not that simple). On the bright side just knowing that someone like this exists is enough to thaw the ice that had formed over my heart in these last few years. I hope that at least that she knows just how wonderful she really is. So hopefully in speaking my heart here I won't feel so bad about something that will never be.

Canadian Bands

Canadian Bands KICK ASS!!! You feel so much pride when your listening to bands from your home and native land, so here's my list of my fav Canuck bands.

The Watchmen
Doctor Rx (Lead singer of the Watchmens new band)
Big Wreck
Thornley (Lead singer of Big Wrecks new band)
The Weakerthans
Matthew Good
Moist
David Usher
Barstool Prophets
The Trews
Our Lady Peace
Finger Eleven
The Tragically Hip
Barenaked Ladies
The Tea Party

I find it so amusing when bands such as OLP make it big across the boarder and then Americans think that they are from the states. You silly Americans.
Remote Control

Has anyone else heard a remote referred to as a beamer? I remember when I was young sometimes when the remote would go missing and people in my house would occaionally refer to it as a beamer. I never thought too much about it until friends came over and if we referred to a remote as a beamer they wouldn't know what the hell we were talking about. I've heard others refer to it a clicker, controller, remote, the TV changer, but I've never heard anyone outside my family call it a beamer.

Quote of the Day

"Time may heal all wounds but they leave scars." Garrett
Dawn of the Dead (1978) Merchandise

This is by far my most favorite film of all time. It simply kicks major ass in all ways. It has been my goal to show this film to all who have not yet seen it, and thanks to the remake and Land of the dead I hope more people have indeed seen this film. Every person I have shown this film has absolutely loved it, even people who don't like horror movies. I have never had one complaint. But anyways I want to talk about my small collection of Dawn memorabilia. Since it was made in the 70's their isn't to many things one can buy, but fortunately I have come across a few small things.

My first item would of course be the first copy I ever bought, which is the two tape directors cut ( the best cut of the film). Then when I bought a DVD player I was waiting years for the ultimate special edition that would have the documentary "Document of the dead" and after years of waiting I finally got it in 04. I also ended up buying the single disc version that came out something like 5 months before this ultimate edition came out. After doing some research on what there was to buy I found that they was a Dawn board game put out around the time of the release of the film. It was going for like $80 on eBay. I always thought it would be cool to play, and for last Xmas my brother found a site where you could actually print out you own copy, so that's exactly what he did for me. He made it look all professional, it was pretty cool (still haven't gotten around to playing it). Then I found out that they were putting out a comic book series of the film, so I got to pick that up. This Halloween on one of my trips, I found that Spencers Gifts was selling posters for the film, and being a poster collector it was one item that I just had to have. Even though it is only a replicant I don't care. The most recent items I got were two t-shirts. There is this awesome store in the States called Hot Topic, and when my oldest bro went to LA and Seattle he picked them up for me.

My favorite item is a one of a kind quilt that my friend made for me. She was just getting into sewing and this was her first big attempt. It took her 6 months to complete. It is my absolutely most favorite thing I own in the world, screw my car, screw my DVD collection, it is this quilt. When I move into my own place I plan to mount it behind glass on my wall. The work is so detailed and perfect. She followed this up with some Dawn pillows cases that were equally cool. Also b/c of this quilt I was able for the Homepage of the Dead( the best website on the dead series) to post a pic in there bits and pieces section where something like 22 thousand have viewed it. How cool is that, thousands of dead fans checking out something that only I will ever own.

Next, I will be acquiring the action figures that Neca toys will be releasing this year and I hope to one day get the novelization and the record soundtrack.

Personal Best and Worst Films of 2005

I will start this list off with the worst and in no particular order.

The Fog (By far the worst, and I had such hopes for this film)
Charlie and the Chocolate factory (Why Johnny Why?, Songs sucked and the Oompa Loompa was just scary)
Doom (Pointless and wasn't it suppose to take place in hell?)
Bewitched (Not funny, but Nicole Kidman was looking pretty hot)
Deuce Bigelow 2 (unnecessary film, not even funny, at least the first one had some laughs)
XXX 2 (Why kill Xander? If it wasn't suppose to be a XXX movie it may have been not so bad)

Now for the films I really liked this year.

Land of the Dead (Been waiting years for this movie and was not disappointed)
Devils Rejects (Wasn't a big fan of corpse but this had an awesome revenge story, and a bitchin soundtrack)
Elizabethtown (Just as good as all of other Crowe films, and same goes for his soundtracks)
Mr and Mrs Smith (Cool film, I think Pitt's mannerisms in this, fight club and The Mexican are hilarious)
Sin City (Excellent film making, great story telling)
40 Year old Virgin (hysterical, hadn't laughed this hard since Girl Next Door)
Batman Begins (Great Origins film)
Fantastic Four (Good comic book film with laughs)
