Saw III

3.5 G's out of 5. The writer's must have went back and read the Scream 3's rules to a Trilogy:

"If you find yourself dealing with an unexpected back-story, and a preponderance of exposition, then the sequel rules do not apply. Because you are not dealing with a sequel. You are dealing with the concluding chapter of a trilogy. Yes a trilogy. It's a rarity in the horror field, but it does exist, and its a force to be reckoned with, because true trilogies are all about going back to the beginning and discovering something that wasn't true from the get go. "Godfather", "Jedi", all revealed something that we thought was true, that wasn't true. So if it is a trilogy you are dealing with, here are some super trilogy rules.

1. You got a killer whos going to be super human. Stabbing him wont work, shooting him wont work, basically in the third one, you gotta cryogenically freeze his head, decapitate him, or blow him up.
2. Anyone including the main character can die. This means you Sid. I'm sorry; its the final chapter. It can be fucking 'Reservoir Dogs' by the time this thing is through
3. The past will come back to bite you in the ass! Whatever you think you know about the past, forget it. The past is not at rest, any sins you think were committed in the past are about to break out and destroy you.

That last rule coming true more than the first two. Therefore I find this one to be the weakest of the three, but that’s just what I think. I hate it sometimes going back and learning differences on the past. However, it does make for an interesting conclusion and an interesting story in general. As much as I would have loved going up to Saw 8 doing the same thing over and over again, somewhere along the lines it would have blown. Maybe it would have been better if some of the trilogy elements were used in a fourth film instead of here, but hey what do I know.

Once again they leave it open for a sequel, but it would most likely just be a wrap up to things started in this film and probably have little, if any connection to the first two films. It definitely had quite the gore, so I’m very pleased. In moments it even made me cringe a few times. The majority of people will probably want to hide their head in their hands. Personally I would have liked to have seen something different, but that’s just me. So in conclusion it was a fairly good film.
