The Descent
So last night I watched The Descent again and from the comfort of my own home. I know what you thinking; how can that be, it only came out on Fri and I have already seen it twice. Well this is a UK horror film that came out in Europe back in July of last year. Which means about 6 months or so later they already had the film on DVD. I first heard about this film around the beginning of the year and found that a DVD quality version was already available to download. It was also around this time I got a program that would finally allow me to be able to use my DVD burner. So back in February I already had the film on DVD knowing that it wouldn't be in theatres until August. Here a link to my original post on the film back in Feb.
If you don't know shit about the film I can sum it up in one sentence. A bunch of women go on a caving expedition where shit happens and then the characters are pursued by the creatures within. The first time I saw it I wasn't sure whether I liked it or not. It was one of those films I had to let gestate for a bit. After thinking about it I decided that it was very good. After watching it a second time it confirms that it was a really good horror film. Thinking about it now I don't know why I was left pondering if I liked it or not?
Interestingly the US version has a different ending from the UK. Personally I think the best ending is the UK's. I've only seen the UK's end but it not hard to know the US ending b/c all they do is drop off a certain part from the UK. I think the US ending would leave people asking them self "What?" while the UK end is more of a type of ending that John Carpenter would have used like in The Thing and They Live. If you have seen the film you can see the original and superior ending over at YouTube.
While I'm taking about the film I going to bring up the director's first film again Dog soldiers. I think I've mentioned it like three time since I started blogging but I feel like bringing it up again. I would say that it is probably one of, if not the best werewolf film around. I talked about it the most back in a post I did on good werewolf movies that you could go back and read here. If your a fan of werewolf films and haven't seen this film it is a must.

Nothing scares me on film anymore. I wish it did sometimes but it doesn't.
If you like asian films my younger brother would suggest Battle Royale and Oldboy. I would agree with him on Battle Royale but I thought Oldboy sucked.

I figured you probably meant the horror ones but I felt like mentioning them anyway.
The most recent asian horror remake will be Pulse which comes out Fri. At least in comes out in other cities, who knows if Kamloops will actually get a copy. The remake was written by the original writer and Wes Craven, so just b/c Craven's name is attached makes me want to see it.
Yeah, I know it is shocking that there are actually films out their I haven't seen. LOL I will get around to them sometime in my life. They plan on remaking Children of the Corn so I'll probably start getting into that series once work starts on that film.
