Hudson Hawk

A 15th Anniversary DVD was supposed to be released today, but did Kamloops get a copy...NO! Once again another good reason to open my own store in the field of DVD's b/c I would have it. I already have it on DVD but I want this new edition b/c it has a bunch of features I want to see such as deleted scenes. Good news is my youngest brother made a day trip to Kelowna so hopefully he'll find a copy for me.

For those who haven't heard of or seen this film I'm making it this weeks recommendation. It's an action comedy that came out in 1991 and stars Bruce Willis. Bruce's character is a cat burglar who just got released from jail and he is blackmailed into stealing Da Vinci works of art for a world domination plot. It is really funny and a highly quoted movie between my younger brother and I. I used to rent it so many times as a youngster. I remember wanting to get my ear pierced just like his character and wear a hat like his. He also wears a navy blue t-shirt and a suit vest and I have pulled that look off a number of times. Interestingly when I first got into the internet I found out that the film was a huge bomb. It even won the Razzie award for worst picture. Don't let that turn you off though. Its directed by Michael Lehmann who also did Heathers and Airheads. Hawk is more along the lines of fun humor like Airheads than the black comedy Heathers. The humor is a little over the top but its damn good. Another movie that it can kinda be compared to I guess is Last Action Hero. If you enjoyed any of those films then you should really like the Hawk. Also if you like Bruce as a comedic actor this is one of his films that shows it off.

The trailer online at IMDB is crap but if you would like to see a scene here is what I have found. Bruce and Danny steal from a auction house while singing Swinging on a Star.
