London May 1st-5th Pics 38-80

Here is the legend for some more pics. Once again you can see this pics on my pics page located in my link section or just click here.

38 & 39 Guard outside Carlton House Terrace, and Carlton House Terrace.
I think this Carlton House Terrace, but I’m not sure.

40 & 41 Big Ben

42 & 43 Me & Ben

44. Abe Lincoln
A statue of Lincoln near Big Ben, Parliament, and across from Westminster Abbey. I thought that is was weird that they had a statue for him here. They also had one for Martin Luther King.

45. Westminster Abbey
I somehow ended up going to a lot of Churchs while I was over there. I thought that it was pretty much a waste of time and money. A lot of tombs for people I don’t know and don’t care about. The only part worth it was poets corner where some of England’s great writers are memorialized and some are buried. They included Shakespeare, Laurence Oliver, Jane Austin, Milton, Chaucer, Dickens, Kipling and Darwin. We thought that it was funny they had a marker memorializing Darwin in the Church. It was also the site of Diana’s funeral.

46. Westminster Abbey 2

47. Clocks
Big Ben in the background and a clock on a small part of a church in front of Westminster Abbey in the foreground.

48. More of the Abbey
Another part extending from the Abbey.

49. Abbey Angle 2
I guess this would be the second most famous angle of Westminster Abbey. Maybe b/c it’s the exit out of the abbey

50. Me and the Abbey

51. The Writing on the wall.
This can be found on the outside wall leading out of the Abbey.

52. Sculptures on the Abbey
These were above the exit to the abbey. I couldn’t get any closer b/c when we went to the abbey for the first time the place was closed so I had to take the pic from behind a gate.

53 & 54. House of Parliament and Me & HP
Do I really care that the building the Britain’s House of Parliament? No. I only care that one of my fav steak sauces is HP sauce and this is the image on the bottle. Hehe.

55. Looking Up at Ben

56. The River Thames
Looking at the River Thames from Westminster Bridge. Big Ben would be to the right of this pic.

57. London Eye and Westminster Bridge
The Eye of London is the Ferris wheel in the background. It is one thing we didn’t do. Why? First it is supposed to expensive. Second it moves really slow. I was told it takes about an hour to get to the top and once your up there your like “okay I want to get down now”. Maybe if I went with a g/f and had a compartment to myself it would have been a different story. And I’m taking the pic from Westminster Bridge, which is the bridge right near Big Ben and parliament.

58. 28 Days Later.
I’m on Westminster Bridge which is the bridge Cillian Murphey wanders across in 28 Days Later. The building in the background is a Hotel. I think it was a Hilton.

59. Parliament and Ben
This was taken across the river Thames of Parliament and Big Ben.

60. Who's that Good looking Guy?
That’s me in front of Parliament and Ben

61. Westminster Bridge
The 28 Days Later Bridge with Ben in the background.

62. Balancing Act
I had the idea to have Ryan holding Ben in the palm of his hand. I couldn't stop myself from laughing.

63. Only two fingers
I on the other hand only needed two fingers to hold up Ben. Hehe

64. 5, 0
It’s London’s Police. Walking on Westminster Bridge.

65. Me on the Bridge

66. Geez, another pic of the damn Bridge.

67. Hehe.
Humps for ½ mile. For some reason this sign made me laugh. I rationalized taking the pic of it b/c I was then able to get a pic of a London mail box. I also came across a sign that said 21 humps ahead. Hehe.

68. Scotland Yard
It was really hard to find this place with the shitty map that I had. They had a bunch of heavily armed guards in front entrance. This famous sign has been used in a bunch of movies and TV shows. The sign itself rotates.

69. Scotland Yard 2
It felt weird trying to take a pic of the place from across the street I felt like I was going to be shot. There are less guards in front now than there was.

70. & 71 New Royal Horticultural Hall
Inside this place movies such as Pick Floyds The Wall, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, and The Saint were shot. It was close to Scotland Yard and once again hard to find with my crap map. Once we got to it it was closed. I took pics anyway just incase I didn’t come back. I never did have a chance to go back. It was really dark out, so I tried messing with the setting on my camera but nothing really turned out. I kept the pic anyway.

72. The World is Not Enough
Me doing my Bond impression in front of the real MI6 building used in The World is Not Enough.

73. MI6 (Vauxhall Cross)

74. Tate Britian
Ryan in front of a another great art gallery we went in. I got some postcards of some of the painting that I really liked. I'll scan these and post them later.

75. Toilet
The first time I saw a sign like this I thought it said toilet. These signs were all over Britain. Instead of To Rent they use To Let. Every time I saw one of the signs I couldn't help but laugh to myself. I think it started to get on Ryan’s nerves. I was also tempted to write in the ‘I’ on one of them. Then in our last few days back in London I saw a sign where someone did write in an ‘I’.

76. Protesters.
These were some protesters in front of parliament. I liked the image of gun gas nozzle.

77. The Globe
A reconstructed copy of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. (The white building near the bottom)

78. Thames
Another view of the Thames taken from the Millennium Bridge (a walking bridge made to celebrate the year 2000). I think I was told that after it was finished it had only been open for a week before they had to close it. I think they said the reason was that it swayed or something. The Globe would be to the right.

79 & 80 The Globe 2 and 3
More pics of the Globe theatre taken from the Millennium Bridge. Unfortunately I couldn’t get pics inside the globe b/c the were rehearsing for the play Coriolanus . It was worth trading pics for getting to see the rehearsals for a Shakespeare play. I did get some postcards that showed the inside so I'll post them later.
