Hard Candy

After a long wait I finally obtained a copy of this film to watch. It started out really creepy and when Hayley's true self comes out is really cool. After that it sort of felt like it dropped off for me. I guess I was just expecting something else. It's just when your expecting one thing and you get something else your left a little disappointed. It was still pretty decent though, I give it a 2.5 out of 5. Maybe it's b/c of the shitty copy that I saw that I didn't like it as much as I would have. When a film is not watched the way it should be you can miss the subtle nuances that make the film just that much better. Page does a brilliant job pulling off a sweet exterior before exposed the nut within. Like that Hard "CANDY" reference. Sweet on the outside, nuts in the middle...LOL. Yeah I know I'm lame. I do wish they had a little bit more of a back story for Ellen Page's character. It definitely deserves a second viewing. Sometimes it takes a second time seeing a film before I truly love it. I could possibly see this happening with this film. Maybe I'll be giving it a higher rating in the future. A couple years back I had an idea for a movie similar to this but instead of a pedophile it was a serial rapist and it was very gory revenge flick.
