I'm Still Alive

I have 22 minutes to try and some up the last week. First our trip to Romania got f-ed up b/c our train was really late. By the time we would have got in we would have had only 6 hours sleep then had only 5 hrs in town to try and find Vlads Castle then get on a plane to head to Vienna. Therefore we said screw that and trained to Vienna then on to Venice. It sucked we couldn't see anything Dracula related but at least we traded it for the Cannels of Venice.

From Venice we trained to Rome and thats where we have been the last few days. One thing we learned is that Italy is fairly disgusting. Lots of beggers and garbage on the streets. Venice is a very confusing place to get around without a good map. In about 2hrs we had walked in a complete circle. Rome was in ruins litterally. It was also very hot I think the temp was over 30 the entire time we were there. Walking around in the heat really sucked, but I did get a nice tan. Its a good thing that I tan well. Saw all the cool things your supose to see hear. Spent 2 hours in the line to get into the Vatican. Then only two hours in the place. It was lacking. Even the Sistine Chapel wasn't as impressive as I thought it would have been. But it still is cool to say that I saw the Sistine Chapel. Then we tried to train to Zurich but all the trains were booked. Even to our next destination (Paris) from Rome. So we had to train the long way around all the way to Paris. We went from Rome back to Munich then from their to Paris which is where I am now. It took almost 20 hrs. I can't believe the trip is almost over. :( As much as I'm looking forward coming home I'm really going to miss it over here.

One thing I really wanted to try in Italy was pasta and pizza, since pasta with meat sauce is my favourite meal of all time. I would say that I was disappointed with both over here. Its not that it was bad just that I've had better. All the pizza was thin crust and I prefer deep dish. Then I was really hoping the pasta would be the best I ever had but it wasn't. The best pasta I have ever had was at Peter's Pasta downtown kamloops. That is a really great restaurant.

So far I think I have taken close to 600 pics and have about 70 left. I hope it will last till the end of the trip. I do have some really great pics I can't wait to share.

We also managed to see the Davinci Code in Rome which I thought was funny seeing it there. It was sort of like a big screw you to the church. I see why they are pissed at it. It was also I really cool movie I thought.

Last Night in Budapest

The last few days have been complete opposites. One day it was poring rain and today it sunny and hot. The heat was a killer walking around today, had to drink a lot of water. Maybe it's just the heat talking here but I think I'm starting to get burnt out. I probably need at least a few days of taking it easy. Everyday has been full of doing stuff. At least I will be able to just chill on the train ride to Bucharest (15 hrs). The mineral springs were really relaxing, and it was cool being in the water while it was raining. I thought the place would be built into rocks and stuff but it was really just giant hot tubs. What made it really cool was it was in the middle of this really old building. I think the problem was their was not a lot of single women and too many guys in speedo's. I should have got myself one. Hehe, just picture that. :) One thing I noticed about it here was a lot of couples engage in PDA. I'd fit right in if I could just get a women in my arms. Hehe. The best part about it here is this ice cream we found. It is ice cream freeze dried in little dots about half the size of a popcorn kernel. It was at the top of a hill that had the palace so we hiked up their today in the heat just so we could eat it again. I loved it so much. Also after all this walking I'll really starting to miss my car. I so love my car :)

Yo

I'm here in Budapest. This will end up being a short post but anything is better than nothing. I will be here for the next 2 days and I'm looking forward to seeing some more sights. On the top of the list is the salt springs which are to be a healing wonder.

The day before that I was in Salzburg which was a really nice small city. Did the Mozart and Sound of Music sight seeing stuff and saw the huge fortress on top of the hill that gave an awesome view of the city. The hostel even showed the film every night so our last night we watched it.

I have so many cool stories to tell I can't wait to talk about indepth on each of the places I've seen. The next place we go is Romania, so thats all for now.

Berlin

I got into Berlin today. And this part goes out to my family "Who the fuck hung up on me when I called to say I was here." I call and its around 8:30am and I say hello and then someone said hello and then I say hello again and you hang up on me. WTF? You know it is expensive for me to call and check in. Anyway if anyone in my family does read this I made it to Berlin.

So far I got a really good impression from Berlin its another really nice place. Ryan and I spent the afternoon just wandering the streets and going to souvenir shops since most museums were closed by the time we got here. I look forward to checking out some of the places here. I think the one souvenir I'll get here is a piece of the Berlin wall.

Coppenhagen kicked ass, I absolutely loved it there I definantly plan on going back. The place could be described as a cosy little metropolise. I think everyone we came across spoke English, it was a second language to them. Here we also found our first 7-11 stores and first chian video store (Blockbuster). The city also had a number of very good looking people. I was just one more added it the bunch Hehe. Went the Erotic Museum which was really cool. It contained the sex lives of some famous people like Chaplin, James Dean, Clark Gable, Monroe, and Freud. We did go to one big museum but about half way through we started speeding up because were started to see the same stuff most places. SOme fun places we visited were Ripley's Beleive it or not and the Guniess Records museum. They both were really fun to experience. Another really powerful museum we saw was the Museum of Danish Resistence, we got in for free but I would have paid to see it. People also walk really fast there. I also walk fairly fast so I fit right in. It felt like home.

I also meet some really cool people in the hostel. One night we spent about 2hrs talking to one guy from Canada. (We seem to be running into a lot of people from Canada, but most are from the East coast.) The only person we meet from teh west coast was surprisinglz from Vernon. Then last night I was chatting it up with two of my female roomates for like 3hrs, we had some really cool things to talk about.

The one thing I really regret not seeing here was Hamlets Castle but it was a 50 min train ride out of town. We just had too much too see in town. Also if I did go I would have loved to do the 7hr guided tour and I'm not sure it was opperating on the Sunday. But not going gives me an excuse to go back now. I also never got to go the Castle where they shot Monty Python and the Holy Grail outside of Edinburgh. Once again to much to see in town to train outside of town. I plan to come back in the next few years so I will be able to explore these places and other places outside of London like Mancester, and Liverpool.

Talk some more latter.

I'm Back

Its day whatever but Ryan says its 2 weeks tomorrow. It seems like a hell of a lot longer which is cool. Currently I'm in Copenhagen in Denmark. It took about 10hrs or so to get here from Amsterdam by train with a few changes of the train. It really didn't even seem like 10hrs. I could look out the windows for hours and not be bored. Ryan on the other hand had his nose in a book. He has already finished 2 so far. I get the occasional read of my Zombie surival guide when I get a little bit bored. I haven't been in Copenhagen long but I can tell I already love it. All the women are very attractive so far... Wink, Wink, Nudge Nudge. I had some hot girl checking out my tattoo at dinner, and a Scottish women compliment on it while I was in Edinburgh.

So for some updates on the last few days. On our last night in Dublin we went to see MI 3, which was cool seeing in Dublin since one actor is from Dublin plus the film locations are some of the places we plan on visiting. The funny part is there was like ten commercials in front of the film and only 2 trailers. And I thought having the 3 or 4 commercials at home sucked. I think that there was mainly one souvenir chain store all around Dublin called Carol's, it seemed to be on every other street. Some were small and others were huge. For my Dublin souvenirs I got a Celtic cross necklace similar to one in Boondock saints, and this really cool green button up shirt with a bunch of Irish patches on it. One place we visited was Trinity college where we saw part of a Cricket game, which was exciting. I've wanted to learn how to play it for some time now.

From Dublin we went to Edinburgh. Did more souvenir shopping than sight seeing. I think we were both getting tired of all the museum stuff. We went to Edinburgh Castle. It was pretty cool walking through and around the castle. Also walked up into some historical park and got a nice view of the highlands. Did the touristy Edinburgh Dungeon where actors lead you around the scary history of Scotland. It was good for a laugh. The maze of mirrors was fun to explore. It was like a dark and dungeonesk Enter the Dragon. It was fairly cold in both Dublin and Edinburgh. I think I was the only one wearing shorts. I then either had a jacket or a hoddie on or in some cases both. I thought the one souvenir that would be cool to have from Scotland would be a kilt and I thought that if I found one cheap I would get one and that's exactly what happened. One place were selling then for 25 pounds so I bought myself one. I may not wear it lots but I think it is still awesome to have. Also picked myself up a Scottish Ruby shirt and some other neat little items as gifts for some members of the family. And no I not telling you what they are if anyone from the family is reading. Other things we saw were the museum of childhood, writers museum and the museum of Scotland. At the museum of Scotland I made a robot spell Smrt just so I could saw "stupid robot that's not how you spell smart". I got a huge kick out of it. It's something you have to be there for.

From their we went to Amsterdam. My first impression were this place it disgusting. The red light district was absolute gross. The women were just horrible looking. There also weren't too many out in the windows. Some "coffee bars" looked nice but most looked like shit. One museum I thought would be funny to go to would be the Sex Museum. It documents sex throught the ages. It was fairly interesting being both tasteful and crude. The funny part is I stayed at a Christen Youth hostel which was right next to a Thai massage parlor "wink wink" and the famous windows of women. My final opinion of Amsterdam is that is is complete crap. The only thing worth while was the Anne Frank house. It was a very sad experience. Another thing is that Pulp fiction is right. In Amsterdam the fucking drowned all there shit like burgers and fries in mayo. It was disgusting. It is funny that in one online survey I did to find out which European city I am the result was Amsterdam. Oh how wrong that is.

So far the most expensive place has been Dublin. All the places we have stayed have all had their ups and downs. The best place so far was in Edinburgh. Also all the planes have been fairly good all basically on time and no problems in traveling. I do look forward now to taking a a lot of trains. Well I'll be hear for a couple of days then its off to Berlin. TTFN

Day 8 (?) Dublin

Hey all from Dublin. Today we went to the Guinness storehouse the number one attraction in Dublin. I've never really had Guinness straight so it was interesting trying it out. I would probably never drink it again but that's b/c I'm not a beer drinker, but it is cool to say I drank it in Ireland. The other times I've had it were in a drop shot called an Irish car bomb on St.Paddy's and my hamburger buns were made with it the night before at the Hard Rock Cafe. We also when to Dublania which is what it would have been like back in medieval times. We also saw Dublin Castle where Michael Collins was filmed and Trinity College. The day before that we saw St. Patrick's Cathedral. Luckily all the things we wanted to see were close together so it was easy to walk compared to London.

I love the Irish accent, but it is rare to hear it. There are a lot of people from all over the country that we come across and not to many authentic Irish. I guess they live all outside of Dublin.

If your reading this Branden we came across a cool comic book store where they had one of the talking realistic Scarface, as well as color Marv and Marv in the electric chair. They also had a bunch of other cool stuff that I would have loved to bought. But I have no bloody room.

Our last night in London we went to see Christian Slater in the production of One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, which kicked ass. I'm a big fan of Slater's work so it was totally awesome to see him on stage. I'm also a fan of One Flew so it was bitchin to see it as a play. We also went to the British Library where we saw Shakespeare's first folio, original hand written Beatles lyrics, the Magna Carta, the first copy of Alice in Wonderland, the oldest surviving copy of Beowulf, and an early work by Jane Austin as well as her writing desk. We also went to the tower of London and saw the Crown Jewels. I personally think my family jewels are more impressive. Hehe. I couldn't help myself.

It seems like we have been here longer than eight days, which is a good thing. I'll see how it feels like when i'm half way through. And my calf mussels are like rock, it is so cool touching them. Tomorrow we head to Scotland.

One last thing.... I love mixed dorms :)

Hey All

London Day 4. Saw some really cool stuff today. We started out checking the Natural History Museum. The coolest part was getting to experience an Earthquake. We were in a a mock grocery store from China or something and the whole room shook while we watched surveillance footage of the real one. There was a lot to see so our feet were dead by the middle of the day. Then we walked up throught Hype Park on the way to the wax museum. While walking throught the park we pass Paul McCartney. Am 99.9 percent sure it was him, the only reason is I'm not sure is b/c we didn't stop him. It would just seem weird to stop him and then find out I'm wrong. But were pretty damn sure, even my buddy who doesn't know much thinks its him. Then we went to the wax museum were I think I took a pic of myself with about everyone. What I love about this one is you can actually touch then. I have some really funny pics from the place I can't wait to show. Then we walked all the way to Abbey Rd to take pics of the famous zebra crossing from the Beatles album. I got to cross the road and take pics of the famous studio where other bands like the Clash recorded. And that sums up today.

The day before that we saw a lot of stuff. First we went to Tate museum, which is an art gallery. It had some really awesome works that were very touching. I bought some more postcard of some of the art that I really loved. Then we went in to Westminster Abbey, I thought it was sort of a rip off but hey that's just me. It was just a lot of tombs. They did have some memorial stone for some people other than religious figures, such as Shakespeare, Jane Austin, Charles Dickens, and even one for Darwin. That fact that they actually have one for Darwin at this Church we found funny. Then we went to The Globe which was really cool. I never got to take pics inside but I got to watch a rehearsal of one of the plays which makes up for it. At this gift shop is where I bought the most items so far. After that we make a quick go through the Museum of London and saw London from prehistoric days up until now. I found out that Christian Slater is doing the play One flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest so hopefully I can make this show before I go. I would love to see him act in this. I also passed the grand opening for the new movie Confeittie(yeah shit spelling I know) which stars the main guy from HHGTTG but I can't remember his name. I almost saw him but we passed it a bit too late, we did see some another famous black brit actor. A good portion of this day I was looking for this one site from A Fish Called Wanda. I was just about to get give went I looked around a corner and there it was. I figure that if I only got one movie site this would be the one. This moment in time and when I was at the wax museum I was giddy as a little school girl. Hehe. I've since lots more but I can't remember everything right now. I'll do a sum of things I missed when I get back.

Right now my feet kill but they will be ready to go tomorrow. I bet I will have some really fat calf mussels when I get back. Talk to you all in a few days. I can't wait for tomorrow I plan to do a Jack the Ripper walking tour.

Day 2

Walked everywhere today. Been walking since 9am till about 10pm. Saw a whole bunch of stuff. My shoulders and feet hurt a bit but they don't hurt as much as you'd think. Started off seeing where Ian Flemming (creator of bond), and Mary Shelly lived. Then went to Buckingham Place again, to get some better pics. Then used my movie locations book of london to see some other movie sights from such films as Dr. No, Ganster No 1, 28days later, and An American Werewolf in London just to name a few off the top of my head. Went to the national gallery, and portrait gallery. I really enjoyed some of the painting from the 1800's. I think that would have been a really neat time to grow up in. The painting on allegories of love were really moving. The stories provided with some of the painting were really fasinating. It was also neat to see the originals of some of the paints I knew from school. Saw Picadilly Circus, Talfalgar Sqaure, Big Ben, House of Parilament, Westminster Abbey off the top of my head. Ryan and I basically just walked around until we came accross things we wanted to see. It is definantly different yet quite the same. One thing we noticed was we didn't see any pickup trucks. I have some really cool pics that I shot today that I can't wait to see, some are just shots of signs that I thought were funny. Well I have to go do some more planning for tommorrow. I'll write again in a few days.

And the spell checker won't pop up so excuse the horrible spelling. Now you can see how really bad at it I am.

First Post in London

Hey all, I made it to my first hostel here in London and I'm really tired. The plane ride sucked b/c the seat was really cramped and it was really hard to find a position to sleep in without hurting my neck. Also at the airport they were selling alcohol so I got a nice buzz before flying. I figured it would chill me out. I haven't flown since I was nine so I didn't know if I would have a problem flying. Good thing is I didn't have a problem but maybe b/c of my buzz. Branden, you'll probably want to know what movies they showed on the plane, well they played Last Holiday, Cheaper by the dozen 2 and Harry Potter 4. I wanted to see the first two but I was passing in and out of conciousness. So far the only thing we have seen is Buckingham Place. It was pretty cool seeing it at night all lite up but it didn't really make for good pictures but I still took some. Well that's it for now. My payed time is about to run out. Don't know when I'll be able to post again, so talk to anybody later.
