Dawn of the Dead (1978) Merchandise

This is by far my most favorite film of all time. It simply kicks major ass in all ways. It has been my goal to show this film to all who have not yet seen it, and thanks to the remake and Land of the dead I hope more people have indeed seen this film. Every person I have shown this film has absolutely loved it, even people who don't like horror movies. I have never had one complaint. But anyways I want to talk about my small collection of Dawn memorabilia. Since it was made in the 70's their isn't to many things one can buy, but fortunately I have come across a few small things.

My first item would of course be the first copy I ever bought, which is the two tape directors cut ( the best cut of the film). Then when I bought a DVD player I was waiting years for the ultimate special edition that would have the documentary "Document of the dead" and after years of waiting I finally got it in 04. I also ended up buying the single disc version that came out something like 5 months before this ultimate edition came out. After doing some research on what there was to buy I found that they was a Dawn board game put out around the time of the release of the film. It was going for like $80 on eBay. I always thought it would be cool to play, and for last Xmas my brother found a site where you could actually print out you own copy, so that's exactly what he did for me. He made it look all professional, it was pretty cool (still haven't gotten around to playing it). Then I found out that they were putting out a comic book series of the film, so I got to pick that up. This Halloween on one of my trips, I found that Spencers Gifts was selling posters for the film, and being a poster collector it was one item that I just had to have. Even though it is only a replicant I don't care. The most recent items I got were two t-shirts. There is this awesome store in the States called Hot Topic, and when my oldest bro went to LA and Seattle he picked them up for me.

My favorite item is a one of a kind quilt that my friend made for me. She was just getting into sewing and this was her first big attempt. It took her 6 months to complete. It is my absolutely most favorite thing I own in the world, screw my car, screw my DVD collection, it is this quilt. When I move into my own place I plan to mount it behind glass on my wall. The work is so detailed and perfect. She followed this up with some Dawn pillows cases that were equally cool. Also b/c of this quilt I was able for the Homepage of the Dead( the best website on the dead series) to post a pic in there bits and pieces section where something like 22 thousand have viewed it. How cool is that, thousands of dead fans checking out something that only I will ever own.

Next, I will be acquiring the action figures that Neca toys will be releasing this year and I hope to one day get the novelization and the record soundtrack.
