Merry Christmas to All
Ladies of the Night, Ladies of the Night, Ladies of the Night. Merry Christmas! Wow, what an interesting Christmas this year. It was the first time I didn't really want anything (I have pretty much everything I have every wanted), so it was fun just to see what my family would buy me. My Grandparents came down from Burnaby, and my Brothers girlfriend joined us for Christmas. She's Jewish and I think that this was only the second time she has every celebrated Christmas, so it was fun spoiling her with gifts. I could tell she had so much fun. I had a great time poking fun at my brothers ever increasing belly size, it was sweet pay back for calling me a fat kid (technically i wasn't). Unfortunately, my oldest brother in Edmonton couldn't join us. He works at a theater and had to work. Its the third year in a row that he has missed out but luckily he could spend Christmas with his girlfriend and her parents. Thankfully he was able to come and visit in the middle of November. It was an extremely slow start to Christmas this year. Normally the kids are up early and eager to get started but were all grown up and things have changed. We didn't even get started opening gifts till 10 and thats usually the time we are finishing. Since we had a such a late start I ended up being the only one who stayed in there PJ's. Why would you want to get dressed for opening gifts? They call me Pajama Man, because if I'm home I'm always in my PJ's. Ended up feeling really tired by midday, I guess it would have to do with only getting 4 hours of sleep. For some reason I had a lot on my mind and I couldn't sleep.
My number one gifts....you guessed it DVD's. I can't wait to get started on South Park season 5 and 6. Trey and Matt and absolutely brilliant. Also cool is I got 21 Jump street. I've never seen this show but it has such a cool premise and its Johnny Depp, so I know I will enjoy it. Unfortunately, I have way many TV shows on DVD that I have to watch. I still have half of Jackass, half of That 70's show season 3, and one and a half seasons of the Fresh Prince to go through. I will probably go through 21 fast, b/c shows that I buy on DVD that I don't watch on TV such as Lost and Smallville I try to watch all in a few days. My new DVD's can be viewed on my web site. Since I'm going to Europe in the Spring I got some cool going to Europe gifts. I got a backpack, Fromers guide to Europe, and some British pounds. I've never handled pounds before so I got a crash course from my English Grandparents. It is weird that they have only a 20 pence and not a 25 pence. But they are quite similar to our small change.
The weird thing is that I didn't get a lot of clothes which it unsually, but did get a Devils Rejects shrit and a cool Doors Hoodie. This year was defiantly a lot more fun to give than to receive.

Year in Concerts
It's near the end of the year, so I thought I would do some looking back at some of the cool things I've done this year. This year I've gone to the most concerts I've ever been to in a year, and in a period of a month. I started off the year seeing The Weatherthans in kelowna. Great Fucking band. They kicked ass live. They are classified as a Punk band, but I wouldn't go that far as saying that. It was one of those concerts that took place in a smaller setting, I think there was only about 200 people there. Since none of my friends wanted to go I ended up going by myself. Normally I hate doing things myself. but sometimes you just have to say What the Fuck.
Then the summer went by and there wasn't one good concert that I wanted to see. My brother won tickets and backstage passes to meet Velvet Revolver, and the Asshole didn't even take me. I love this band, the band mates of GNR and the voice of STP. He got his picture taken with Slash. Now I wish that was me because we have similar tattoos on are forearms. I don't think I'll ever forgive him for that.
Then September came around, 5 concerts in one month. Thank god for being done with school or it wouldn't have been possible. I started the month seeing Pearl Jam in Vancouver with my brother and his girlfriend. Hell yah this was awesome. I ended up missing the first three songs, because I was too busy trying to get concert shirts. Then I found out me best friend got engaged, so I decided to visit him and my oldest brother in Edmonton to congradulate him. If I'm going to Edmonton I just had to see who was playing in town at the time. I lucked out seeing with my brother The Trews for a third time (Great Canadian band who play an awesome live show) with none other than Robert Fucking Plant. How cool is that Mr. Led Zepplin himself. Then the next day my friend and I got to see System of a Down. Hollyshit were they cool. I was so caught up in seeing concerts that I just had to see who else will be playing in the next little bit. I discovered that 2 other excellent bands would be playing Vancouver the week after I got back from Edmonton. But none of my friends wanted to go and I had never driven to Van before, but as I say sometimes you just have to say What the Fuck. So I started that Week By seeing Queens of the Stone Age with NIN. Hell yah. This time I had really great seats. NIN played all there best old stuff and all the great songs form their new disc. Then Seether would be playing with Audioslave a few days later. I ended up driving to and from Van instead of staying with the Grandparents so I could pick up a 2 shifts of work. Audioslave another great band with the voice of Soundgarden and the killer guitars and drums of Rage agaisnt the machine. I would say Audioslave was the best show I saw b/c I got to hear Soundgarden songs as well as Rage songs. A close second is NIN, and tied for third is System of a Down and Pearl Jam( they come in third only because I was so far from the the stage). Wow what a great month. I ended up spending a fortune on tickets, traveling, way too much on concert shirts and I got to see four of my favorite bands that are playing today (System of a Down, NIN, Audioslave, and Peal Jam). The only shitty part was I ended up getting a really bad cool in Edmonton, so for four of the concerts I wasn't feeling very well. Has anyone else got to see any awesome bands play this year?
Do You think I bought too much? (Most expensive $80 System of a Down windbreaker)
Just Friends and Fun with Dick and Jane.
Went to go see two movies tonight. First I went to Just friends, I would give it a 3.5 or 4 out of 5. I thought it was a fairly funny PG film. If you like any of Ryan Reynolds film then you should check this one out. In the pisses me off file it took like a god dam month for the film to even get to Kamloops, and we still haven't gotten Waiting. Hell, and they wonder why people try to download films. Then I got to go see a staff showing of Fun with Dick and Jane, and all I have to say is was this movie suppose to be funny b/c it wasn't. I maybe laughed once or twice in the middle of the film. It was a piece of shit. I'm a fan of Jim Carrey's work but come on give me something good.

DVD TuesdayYah so what, that was yesterday but I wanted to spill my guts on DVD's. So as I was saying, DVD Tuesday is my favourite day of the week. The day when new movies are released on DVD. The best part are the special features, I always try to buy the best version of a film. I love to get up early almost every Tuesday ( the only day I do get up early). The days that I don't get up early are the days when something is released that I don't need to have when the stores open but I end up picking up by the middle of the afternonn. I love the anticipation the night before, then going to different stores to find who has it and who doesn't and for the cheapest prices. I find that it doesn't take a lot for me to be happy in life, and the smallest things do it for me. It really pisses me off that b/c I live in a smaller town than say Vancouver that sometimes the stores don't get a copy of a movie on the day or that they don't have it the shelves when the door opens. Its the only thing in life that really makes me mad, but I get over it fast. I'm always reminded of the Future shop commercial when two guy are waiting outside the store to open then they run into the store to get the same movie and one guy pushes the other guy out of the way. It always makes me laugh.
If you have read this far then you might think that I'm obsessed or addicted. And yes you are right, I'm addicted. But I figure its a safe addiction. It doesn't hurt anyone, except my bank account, but hey I got a awesome paying second job to support my habit and I'm left with a killer movie library.
So you may be wondering how many movies I own or you may not but I going to tell you anyway, my last count was around 776. If you would like to see what I have go to http://www.intervocative.com/dvdcollection.aspx/Dr.%20G . It is this really cool program that you can download called DVD profiler, it allows you to enter you DVD's into a database. So what kind of movies do I watch? I watch anything and everything, old Hollywood, action, comedy, horror, chick flicks, western, drama, cartoons, but I would say Horror is my favourite. This Tuesday I bought Four Brothers, and Must Love Dogs. I also received my first online order from amazon, where I got Popcorn, The substitute, mischief, and F/X 2. These movies are some of the last back log movies I've been looking for over the last few years that even I was unable to find in big cites like Vancouver and Edmonton. I think I've been buying DVD's since late 1999. Recently a friends of mine wanted to find out how much money I have invested in DVD's. Since not everything I buy is new we times my total by about $15, and I have spent about 12 thousand dollars. Holy shit just imagine if I had that just in cash. So that's pretty much all I have to say about the subject so far, but I expect I will talk about it again in the future.

King Kong.
I went to go see King Kong today, and I thought it was a were entertaining heartfelt movie. I would give it a 4.5 of our 5. Most reviews say that it is really good, but the funny thing is that my friend who works at the theater said that the majority of the staff thought that it sucked. Too bad it only made $50 mil at the box office. Geese, here's me feeling sorry for millionaires. I thought the effects were really good in the film, which says a lot b/c I think that most of the time digital effects suck ass. Kong looked really good and I would say the best part was when he was kicking the shit out of 3 T-Rex's. Oh ya, and Jurrasic Park, has completly ruined any other movie I see with raptors such as Kong, b/c every time i see them now i feel they should look like the ones in JP. Naomi Watts is really beautiful in this film. (She's my type of girl in Tank Girl). It was a fairly long film, but I knew ahead of time that it was an hour to get to the island, an hour on the island and an hour in New York, which made it feel not as long. It probably could have been at least a half hour shorter. And for any other pug dogs lovers out there, at the very beginning of the film there is a guy holding a pug pup. In sum Peter Jackson did a great job. I was also treated to some nice trailers for Miami Vice, Mission Impossible 3, Poseidon, and X3, even though i had already seen them. The Miami Vice trailer has the song Numb/Encore By Linkin Park and Jay-Z, which is really cool played with the trailer.

The Family Stone
Just got back from seeing the Family Stone, and I give it a 4 out 5. It was a very nice, funny, sad, sweet, xmas, family, love story. If i still had a heart it would have been a tearjeaker in one or two spots. I now have another xmas themed loved story along with Love Actually to watch every year. I really liked the part when Dermot Mulroney is chasing brother Luke Wilson, it reminds me of when it happens with one of my own brothers.
